Original early 1900s photographs of Professor William H. Ragsdale's Boys' School aka Greenville Male Academy (handwritten inscription on the back of the image: The Old Academy, Greenville, N.C., A. B. Ellington), Pitt St. Bridge over Tar River (handwritten inscription on the back of the image: New Iron Bridge across Tar River, Greenville NC), and two interior images of the A. B. Ellington & Co. Store on Evans St. between 5th and 4th streets in Greenville, North Carolina.

The Edward Baxter Billingsley Collection (1817-1819, 1938–1999, undated) consists of historical research materials, drafts, and a typescript copy (643 pages) of One Destroyer and World War II: A History of the U. S. S. Emmons (DD457-DM22), by Edward Baxter Billingsley, that he later published as The Emmons Saga: A History of the U. S. S. Emmons (DD457 – DM22). Also included are photographic prints, photocopied naval documents, and microfilm reels concerning his research, and correspondence (1817-1819) related to his dissertation on Chilean and Peruvian wars of Independence.

Papers (1887-1952) of Edenton, NC Judge including World War I, political, and Judicial correspondence; speeches, clippings; Nuremberg war crimes files; and Nuremberg war crimes transcripts.

Collection (1766-2010) consists of items related to the Augustus Moore (June 8, 1803-March 23, 1851) family of Chowan and Halifax Cos., N.C., his children Augustus Minton Moore, William Armistead Moore, Henrietta Moore Sutton, Susan Augustus Moore Righton, Mary Elizabeth Moore, Alfred Moore and John Armistead Moore, and the descendants of John Armistead Moore. Included are account books, legal records, land transactions, estate records, correspondence, clippings, and autograph books (1855, 1865) belonging to family members who attended Miss Willard's Female Seminary in Troy, N.Y., and Patapsco Female Institute in Ellicott City, Maryland. Also included are identified photographs (cartes de visite, tintypes, cased pictures, albums) of the Moore, Gilliam, and Skinner, families, religious books such as Roman Catholic Missals, Episcopal Books of Common Prayer and Bibles, UNC-Chapel Hill diplomas (1824), and items related to the 1878 Exposition in Paris, France.

Letters (August 1917-August 13, 1919) written by Mary and Gordon Robertson of Africa Inland Mission while they were working in the Belgian Congo. They described their work providing education and religious training, how World War I was affecting the area, indigenous customs, and the practice of cannibalism which was still in existence in some villages.

This collection (1760s-1902) mainly contains land records, accounts, a will, and receipts related to the Price and McDade families of Edgecombe and Nash Counties, North Carolina. Also included is a PDF scan of "The Life History of Dempsey Trevathan and Descendants." Another interesting item is a diary (1890-1895, 1902) kept by Theron L. Budesheim's grandmother Franc Emma Rhoades Bates. She documents her life in New York and Pennsylvania where her husband Oliver Bates worked as a scaler in the timber industry.

Collection (12 February 1864) consisting of a letter from Pvt. James Addison Lowrie, Company D of the 57th North Carolina Infantry, at Kinston, NC, to his brother Robert [of Brunswick County, NC], reporting on his good health, the poor mail service, the lack of news, the growing dissatisfaction among "the boys", the recent desertion of 14 men from the 21st Regiment North Carolina Infantry, and the Kinston Hangings, the hanging, on 12 February 1864, of five men who had deserted the Confederate Army and been recaptured: Amos Amyett, Mitchell Busick, Lewis Bryan, William Irving and John Staley; after deserting, the men had joined the 2nd North Carolina Union Volunteers and been captured on 1 February 1864, at Beech Grove; also transcript of letter; also digital copy.

Bryant L. Tritt was born on December 7, 1903 in Gaston County North Carolina. He kept a collection of family bibles. The collection spans 1778-1970 and includes photocopies of genealogical records from Tritt and his wife's family Bibles listing births, deaths, and marriages, etc. The Strength of the collection is the Tritt-Whitley family of Gaston County, Davie County, and Davidson County, North Carolina genealogical records.

This collection contains photocopies of birth and death records for Mills, Buck, Corbett, and Dixon families of Pitt County, North Carolina. Special Collections does not own the originals.

Papers (1863, 1946-1967) including correspondence, speeches, news releases, pamphlets, etc. relating to a local leader in the Ku Klux Klan in Eastern North Carolina.

Records (1958-1997) for the Greenville [North Carolina] Garden Club include scrapbooks, meeting minutes, yearbooks, correspondence, newsletters, clippings, photographs, and award application packets.

Letter (May 12, 1909) written by G. P. Stevens, a missionary representing the Mecklenburg, North Carolina, Presbytery, in Suchien, China, describing his experiences in Suchien.

Papers (1831-1946) including correspondence, legal and financial papers, newspapers, articles on local business, hotels, banks, and miscellaneous.
