This collection consists of digital audio recordings of the weekly radio program What's Happening on Ocracoke?, hosted by Peter Vankevich and broadcast on WOVV 90.1 FM in Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. The recordings document local news, civic issues, and community events and include interviews and discussions with local officials, organization representatives, and community members. Topics addressed include town governance, public services, cultural activities, and issues affecting daily life on Ocracoke Island.

Collection includes a letter written by Ann Elizabeth Bogart, Washington, N.C., to "My dear Aunt," January 8, 1865, describing wartime conditions in Washington, N.C., and vicinity, a 2-page partial transcription of the letter, a tintype of a woman (possibly Ann Elizabeth Bogart), and two color images of the gravestone for Ann Bogart and the plot where she is buried in Washington, N.C. Also included are research materials concerning David Nevius Bogart of Washington, N.C., and related to the Bogart, Biggs, O'Cain, Lucas, Bonner, Peyton, and Snoad families of Beaufort County, N.C. Photographs, genealogy notes, Bible records, and correspondence relate to the Smallwood, Williams, and Hassell families of Williamston, N.C. Letters related to brothers Will and Bruce Smallwood discuss Will's travels and death (1918) in Alaska and Bruce's life and death (after 1894) in Mexico.

Photograph album compiled by Ethel May Burt (ca. 1900) consisting primarily of photographic prints documenting Edenton, Chowan County, N.C., but also including views of various towns including Belhaven and Louisburg, N.C., and Claremont, Corbin Point, James River, and Portsmouth, Va., focusing on street scenes. Also includes also photos of families and friends; White and African American residents; the sitting rooms of Mrs. C. B. Elliott and Mrs. R. L. Temple; and images of notable sites, including Chowan County Courthouse, Dr. Richard Dillard and his front yard, Sailboat ELIZABETH, Norfolk & Southern Railway Stations and Depots, Edenton Bay, U.S. "Fish Pond" and Fish Hatchery, Bank of Edenton, Edenton Cotton Mill interior and exterior views, Methodist church, C. Papers of Eudora Welty (1909-1986 [Bulk: 1930-1980], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Jackson, Mississippi-born American short story writer, novelist, journalist, photographer, and educator, who wrote about the American South; including correspondence; manuscripts, original art, photographic prints, proofs of published materials, audio recordings, printed material, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, by or about Eudora Welty, Donald Davie, Richard Ghormley Eberhart, Shelby Foote, Ross Macdonald, Katherine Anne Porter, George William Russell, Allen Tate, Robert Penn Warren, and others; in English & French language.

Papers of Flannery O'Connor (1962-1984, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Savannah, Georgia-born American short story writer & novelist in the Southern Gothic style, consisting of a broadside entitled Higher Education [Poem] by Mary Flannery O'Connor. Palaemon Broadside No. 16 (Palaemon Press, Ltd., undated); also mimeographed, photocopied typescripts, clippings, letters, and an audio recording of Some Aspects of the Grotesque in Southern Fiction, a speech given by Flannery O'Connor in 1960.

Papers of Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin (1977) documenting the life and literary career of the Cork City-born Irish poet and Trinity College, Dublin educator; consisting of the corrected printer's first proof of her poem entitled The Second Voyage: Poems (1977). Note: Her name is pronounced Eileen Nee Ch-will annoy-n (where the Ch is pronounced like the ch in loch; transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, 12/1/2014.

Includes information about the grant project, biographical sketches for each physician featured, and video recordings of all four public forums.

Joseph Hewes, William Hooper, and John Penn signed the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 4, 1776. All three men were delegates of North Carolina at varying times between 1774-1777. The collection spans 1925-1926 and includes two photographic prints and two letter correspondence. The strength of the collection are the photographic prints of two of the three North Carolina Declaration of Independence Signers and biographical notes.

Papers (1933-1988, undated) documenting the life and literary career of Katherine Anne Porter (1890-1980), the noted Indian Creek, Texas-born American short story writer and novelist, including correspondence; also original art, photographic prints, printed material and loose manuscripts transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection pertaining to Robert Penn Warren, Robert Lowell, Richard Ghormley Eberhart, William H. Littlefield, and others.

The Tyson-May Reunion Papers (1965–2023; undated) document the activities and genealogical research of the Tyson-May Reunion, a family organization founded in Farmville, North Carolina, around 1920. Formed to record and preserve the lineage of early settler Cornelius Tyson and Revolutionary War commander Major Benjamin May and his wife, Mary Clara Tyson, the Reunion has held annual gatherings and maintained detailed records of its membership and operations. Materials include meeting minutes, by-laws, genealogical reports, correspondence, reunion programs, newspaper clippings, and related documentation reflecting the group's administrative functions and ongoing interest in family history.

USS Miller DD 535 (1943-1945, 1970-2001), a Bill Hewes production, detailing the history of the U.S. Navy destroyer, from its commissioning during World War II through the reunions of the crew after the war. Real See attached history from Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships.
