Membership Records (1898-1912) from The Improved Order of Red Men (I.O.R.M), the "Occoneechee Tribe" No. 16; a historically white fraternity. In 1834 the Improved Order of the Red Men was established exclusively for white men. The Membership Record of "Occoneeche Tribe" No. 16 Improved Order of the Red Men (1898-1912) is not associated to the Occaneechi Nation or any other Indigenous Nation. Local chapter No. 16 was headquarterd in Raleigh, North Carolina and would hold meetings there, as well as in New Bern, North Carolina. The "all-white clause" was not removed until the 1970's allowing women and people of color to join. The record book includes names, dates, ranking, session locations, and deaths of members.

Papers (1892-1940, 1960-1964, 1972, 1988) consisting of correspondence, pamphlets, photographs, clippings, newspapers and a book pertaining to the life of Rev. David Wells Herring, a Baptist missionary in China. The book titled Papa Wore No Halo was written about Herring by his daughter Susan Herring Jefferies Taynton.

Papers of Eleanor Ross Taylor (1940-2008 [Bulk: 1989-2008], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Falls Church, Virginia-born American poet, short story writer, and literary critic, consisting of edited manuscripts, proofs of published material & printed materials, including The Soul and Body of John Brown: A Poem, by Muriel Ruykeyser (1940); also including correspondence with Stuart Wright concerning her husband Peter Hillsman Taylor's papers; and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

This collection contains materials from professor emeritus Julie Fay's time at East Carolina University including materials about the Readers Writing Series, which she organized, the English Department, and materials regarding projects documenting the aftermath of Hurricane Floyd in Eastern North Carolina. It also contains materials related to her poetry and publications, as well as personal items and ephemera.

Papers (1907-(1930)-1965) including correspondence, minutes, reports, clippings, photographs, broadsides, pamphlets, press releases, radio scripts, post cards, genealogy, and miscellany.

Letters (August 1917-August 13, 1919) written by Mary and Gordon Robertson of Africa Inland Mission while they were working in the Belgian Congo. They described their work providing education and religious training, how World War I was affecting the area, indigenous customs, and the practice of cannibalism which was still in existence in some villages.
