Papers (1728-1901) including correspondence, inventories, wills,estates, land records, legal records, deeds of enslaved persons, financial records, tax receipts, poems, cipher book, account book, and miscellaneous.

Papers of Harry Crews (1973-1987, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Alma, Georgia-born American novelist, playwright, short story writer, essayist & educator at the University of Florida, where he taught creative writing; including proofs of published materials, photographic prints, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, printed materials & oversized materials.

Collection (1916-1918) includes 14 silver gelatin photographs and 4 printed postcards that belonged to Emil Görling, a German soldier in the 3rd Landwehr Division during World War I. The majority of the images document the 1918 German Spring Offensive in Northern France, specifically the Noyon campaign (April-August 1918). Included are images of the devastation in the area, the battlefields between the towns of Noyon and Lassigny in France, and the unit at work, at leisure and in retreat in the Lorraine area. Many of the photographs and postcards have comments written with pencil or ink in German.

Collection (1778-1974) of papers pertaining to the Jones Family of Gum Neck, Tyrrell County, North Carolina, including deeds and other land records, business and estate records in Tyrrell County and Pasquotank County, relating primarily to Bartlett Jones, C. B. Jones, Carney Jones, W. S. Jones, T. David Jones, Timothy Jones, Sr.; and including clippings, correspondence, photographic prints, and printed materials, relating to Bartlett Braxton Jones, of Elizabeth City, NC, who served as an attorney in the Justice Department, Washington, DC, a National officer of the Society of the Cincinnati, and his wife Helen Bryan Chamberlain Jones, of Kinston, NC, who were both active in Democratic Party politics and social activities.

Collection holds medical notebooks from various sources. Two notebooks found in the Laupus Library History Collection with no presently known provenance. One notebook is a dietetics notebook from E. Alexander at General Hospital, Patterson, New Jersey. The other notebook is Dr. Edward Beach Crowell's medical recipe book. An additional notebook was added to the collection in 2018. This notebook, purchased from Palinurus, was the business record for a Connecticut physician in the 1840s. Two more notebooks were added in 2022. They document medical products.

This collection contains photographs (mostly snapshots, also tintypes, studio portraits, and 2 photograph albums) mainly related to the Croom and Smith families of Lenoir County and the Elmore and Rouse families of Lenoir and Wayne Cos., North Carolina. Also included are images for people in related families of eastern North Carolina and the Cole, Meeks, Rouse, Infinger, Vallotton, and Thompson families in Georgia. Most images are identified.

Papers of Carson McCullers (1941-1985 [Bulk: 1941-1945]) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Columbia, Georgia-born American author of Southern Gothic novels and short stories, consisting of her correspondence with noted American composer David Diamond (1915-2005), 1941-1945, and a letter from McCullers' biographer, Virginia Spencer Carr, to Stuart Wright, regarding publication of the McCullers – Diamond correspondence, 1985.

Papers of William Faulkner (1948-1990) documenting the life and literary career of the noted New Albany, Mississippi-born American novelist and short story writer who won the 1949 Nobel Prize for literature; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including a letter enclosing a printed copy of Faulkner's Nobel Prize acceptance speech and letters from Faulkner's biographer, Joseph Blotner; also a carbon typescript manuscript (ca. 1948) of a Faulkner short story entitled A Courtship.

This collection contains the Secret World War II Historical Narrative of District Operations Office and Inshore Patrol, Fifth Naval District, Norfolk, Virginia (August 31, 1945) Approved by R. S. [Russell Sydnor] Crenshaw, Captain, U.S.N. Assistant Commandant of the Fifth Naval District and commander of the Inshore Patrol during most of World War II.
