This collection consists of the records of the Institute of Outdoor Theatre which was founded in 1963 and includes material related to over 600 outdoor theatres, some of which began operation in the 1920s. Included are play scripts, correspondence, clippings, publicity material, video and audio recordings, feasibility studies, publications, reel-to-reel tapes, 35 mm slides, blueprints, and audition-related materials. This collection is being processed with the support of a National Historical Publications and Records Commission grant.

Administrative records of The William E. Laupus Health Sciences Library includes papers, publications, and photographs.

The Utaka Hashimoto Papers (1942-1946, undated), consists of a scrapbook, entitled Utaka's Over Sea Souvenir, compiled by Hashimoto's wife, Mitsuyo "Mitzie" Hashimoto, to document her husband's World War II military intelligence service as a Technician 5th class, in the 163rd and 171st Language Detachments, 32nd Infantry Division, I Corps, United States Army, which was assigned to the Southwest Pacific and Occupation of Japan. The scrapbook focuses on his overseas service, from October 1945 through May 1946, aboard the troopships SS JAMES H. KINKAID (WSAT AP USAT-480) and SS MARSHALL VICTORY (VC2-S-AP2); his brief deployment in Manila, the Philippines during October - November 1945; and in various locations in Japan from November 1945 to May 1946. Included are correspondence, newsletter clippings, photographic prints, black and white and color postcards, printed forms, U.S. Military and Occupation and Japanese currencies, and ephemera from Japan. Additional items document Utaka Hashimoto's military service and also include photocopies of records of his wife's voluntary evacuation (before their marriage) due to the resettlement of Japanese Americans during WWII and that of her second husband who was in a relocation camp.

Papers of Madison Smartt Bell (1922-1997 [Bulk: 1957-1990], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the Nashville, Tennessee-born American novelist, including manuscript materials, proofs of published works, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, and oversized materials, relating primarily to his books Zero db and Other Stories, Barking Man, and The Washington Square Ensemble, and others.

Papers (1895-1935) of Greenville attorney, three-term mayor, and judge of the NC Superior Court, 1910-1920, consisting of correspondence, financial papers, legal papers, brief book, clippings, postcards, poems, negatives, standard diary, etc.

This collection contains an album (ca. 1930) of seventy-eight photographs and postcards taken by an unknown German missionary while working in the Malolo area of Papua New Guinea.

Yukon gold rush diary (1898 - 1899) (Photocopy [117 p.]) and typescript copy with introduction by Frank Moss [January 1998, 44 p.] and copies of photographic prints of Yukon gold rush [15 p.] Original diary withdrawn 5/9/2002, in possession of the donors.

Papers (1907-1955) including correspondence, World War I military records, photographs, financial records, estate papers, clippings, business letters, bank loans, and miscellaneous.

Collection includes 25 World War II era U.S. Ration Books issued to a Greene County, North Carolina, family and to a familly in Long Beach, California. Also included are a Fuel Oil Ration Book, 3 Mileage Ration Books and an A Gas Ration sticker. These ration books document the experience of necessities being rationed during the war, and the physical description and familial connections of the people to whom the ration books were issued. Also included are unused V Mail Stationery, and 12 pin-ups which could be mailed to U.S. soldiers during the war. An additional 18 images document an Army Day parade held in Gorizia, Italy, on April 6, 1946. This group consists primarily of photographic prints depicting military vehicles and personnel in procession, including scenes of an engineers wrecker truck, spectators lining the route of march, a two and one half ton truck transporting a tractor on a trailer, a Brockway truck, an M 24 tank of the 752d Tank Battalion, armored cars, a 105 mm howitzer with a detailed view of its recoilless mechanism, a 57 mm antitank gun, elements of the 105th Field Artillery, and the S P Shore Patrol Band.
