Collection (ca. 1941—1959) of correspondence, manuscripts, printed forms, and printed works relating to the Sanderson family of Kinston, North Carolina, and the military service of Cpl. Claude Sanderson Jr. in Co. H, 129th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, and Pfc. James Earl Sanderson in Battery A, 449th Field Artillery Observation Battalion and Co. B, 1st Brigade, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division.

This finding aid pertains to the transcript of an oral history conducted by Dean Albertson in the years of 1952-1953. The original audio format of this material is owned by Columbia University and is housed at the Oral History Research Office, Columbia University.

Papers (1780-1969; bulk 1808-1924) including correspondence, land records, legal papers, financial papers, ledgers, etc., of two prominent Eastern North Carolina families--Grimes and Bryan--related through marriage. Other material concerns the Wharton and Conrad families of Clemmonsville, North Carolina, in Davidson County, who are also related by marriage to the Grimes family.

Contained in the collection are notebooks, pamphlets, photographs and negatives from Boice's time at the University of Pennsylvania and his career afterwards.

Papers (1864-1866) of soldier from Beaufort County who was killed in action near Petersburg, Va., during the Civil War while serving in the 33 Regiment of N.C. Troops, including correspondence, especially one notifying his mother of his death.

Records (1936-2024) including correspondence, historical writings, letterhead, address lists, membership applications with supporting documents, minutes, financial records, brochures, pamphlets, periodicals and yearbooks of the North Carolina Chapter and The Gazette of the General Society of Colonial Wars, the Society of the Daughters of Colonial Wars in the State of North Carolina yearbooks and the by-laws and yearbooks of the General Society of Colonial Wars.

Papers (1930-1990) of U.S. Navy admiral, U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1933, including correspondence, diaries, photographs, reports, orders, speeches, programs, and miscellany.
