The ship's log of the US Brig Porpoise, dated 19 February 1845 to 16 June 1846, was kept during a cruise from New York to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It details navigational statistics, weather reports, sightings and hailing of other ships, and punishments of crew infractions. The author was probably Midshipman Benjamin Lee Henderson and the log was signed in fifteen places by Lt. Commander William E. Hunt.

The John W. Warner Papers (1947-1986) document the career of filmmaker and entrepreneur John W. Warner, with a primary focus on the creation, financing, distribution, and later rediscovery of the independent film Pitch A Boogie Woogie. Dating chiefly from 1946 to 1958, with additional materials from 1986, the collection includes correspondence, legal and financial records, promotional materials, memorabilia, scripts, photographs, and audiovisual media that illuminate the business and creative challenges of independent filmmaking in the mid twentieth century. Supplementary materials reflect Warner's broader professional activities in North Carolina, including television production and local theater operations. Together, the papers provide insight into regional film production, film exhibition and promotion, and the processes through which a largely forgotten work was reclaimed and recontextualized by scholars and the public decades later.

Collection (1803-1996) pertaining to Martin County, NC, farmer John Conrad Getsinger, Sr., (Nov. 4, 1812-Jan. 16, 1891), a native of Wurttemburg, Germany, and several of his descendants consisting of correspondence, memoranda books, a sketchbook created by Mr. Getsinger while he was a soldier (1847-1848) fighting in the Mexican War, financial records, Civil War records pertaining to Mr. Getsinger and his son John C. Getsinger, Jr., religious publications, Primitive Baptist Church records (especially for Smithwick's Creek Primitive Baptist Church), pamphlets, broadsides, photographs, legal papers, newspaper clippings, and miscellany.

Papers of Cleanth Brooks (1951-1986) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Murray, Kentucky-born American editor, literary critic and educator at Yale University, who was influential in the New Criticism movement as editor of The Southern Review, 1935-1942; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including Brooks' signed contract to sell his books and literary periodicals to Stuart Wright correspondence between Brooks, George Garrett Stuart Wright; also a reprint of Milton and the New Criticism, by Cleanth Brooks (1951).

Ledgers (1911-1968) of Beaufort County, NC attorney, containing abstracts of deeds and other land conveyances; plats of land; and historical and contemporary observations about the county and its people.

Thomas R. Lundin was born March 24, 1982, in Madison, Wisconsin. After completing high school in 2000 in Greenville, North Carolina, he joined the U.S. Army and served as an Apache Helicopter crew chief for 3rd Infantry Division in Kuwait during the Iraqi War of 2003. This collection contains papers, a diary, maps, military manuals, and ephemera related to his service, especially during the Iraqi War.
