Papers (1847-2023) relate to the family, genealogical, and professional activities and interests of Eleanor Galliard Simons Flowers, a native of Charleston, South Carolina. Topics include South Carolina history (especially Charleston and the Low Country) and participation in S.C. chapters of Children of the Confederacy and the UDC, Colonial Dames, Huguenot Society, and Society for Preservation of Spirituals; and organizations in Augusta, Georgia, and in Hendersonville, North Carolina where she lived after marrying John Baxton Flowers III. Papers (1935-2008, undated) pertaining to noted North Carolina-born poet, educator and artist, A. R. [Archie Randolph] Ammons (1926-2001), including manuscripts, books, proofs, broadsides, pamphlets, periodicals and original art by, about, or owned by Ammons; and relating to his family and childhood, near Whiteville, NC, his service in the US Navy on a destroyer escort 1942-1945; his attendance at Wake Forest University (BA, 1949) and University of California, Berkeley (MA, 1951); his career as teacher and principal at Hatteras Elementary School, as an editor, and as an executive at his father-in-law's glass manufacturing company in New Jersey; but primarily relating to his life as a poet and his academic career at Cornell University, 1964-1998, where he was Goldwin Smith Professor of Poetry at Cornell University after 1989; and to his numerous published works of poetry and his two National Book Awards (1973 and 1993) among other prizes.
This collection consists of a WWII diary (October 5, 1942-March 9, 1943) kept by Lt. Thomas M. Clement during his service aboard the USS Philadelphia, newspaper clippings concerning the Philadelphia, citations of service for Clement, leave passes, morning orders, and the Sixth Birthday Edition of the History of the Philadelphia (September 23, 1943) which was printed aboard ship. Clement's diary documents the Philadelphia's service during the Invasion of North Africa, especially the assault on Safi and Casablanca.

This collection contains letters (1964-1967) written by brothers Terrence and Dennis Miller of St. Louis, Missouri, who joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Letters written by Dennis Miller during 1967 document his time serving in Vietnam as part of 3rd BN, 60th Ord Co. Also included are letters written by fellow soldiers and friends (through 1971), service records, negatives, military payment certificates, and Vietnamese money.

Papers of Dara Wier (1981) documenting the life and literary career of the New Orleans, Louisiana-born American poet who is also director of the Masters of Fine Arts program for poets and writers at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, who was married novelist and short story writer Allen Wier (m. 1969-1983) [#1169.103] and then to poet James Tate until his death in 2015; consisting of a broadside of her poem The Consequences of Weather (1981), autographed Dara Wier.

This collection (1924-2000) contains material related to the marketing of products produced by the Empire Brush Company of Greenville, North Carolina. Included are catalogues, price lists, marketing programs, advertising stickers and product wrappings, and original materials used in planographic printing of product wrappings. Although Empire Brush moved its manufacturing facility to Greenville Industrial Park in 1964, the collection also contains items relating to its pre-1964 years and some to Rubbermaid which bought Empire Brush out in 1994.
Papers of Theodore Weiss (1971, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Reading, Pennsylvania-born American poet, educator, and editor, who was one of the founders of the Quarterly Review of Literature, in 1943; consisting of an advance reader's copy of Breath of Clowns and Kings: Shakespeare's Early Comedies and Histories (1971), a collection of literary essays, by Weiss; also including an envelope containing a collection of 25 bookmarks distributed by the New York Quarterly (undated) with a quote from poet John Keats' letter to J. H. [John Hamilton] Reynolds (1794-1852), dated 17 April 1817, each bookmark was autographed by a leading contemporary poet, writer, or other literary figure.
