Papers (1843-1942; bulk 1843-1891) of Kinston, NC, attorney John Franklin Wooten and members of the Wooten, Harper and Moseley families of Lenoir Co., NC, and the Christian family of Virginia including correspondence, deeds, plats, financial records and miscellany.

The collection consists primarily of photographic, blueprint, journals, class photos, and other advertising materials used and/or created by the Medical News & Information department of East Carolina University.

The papers include letters, postcards, and papers written by Henderson Irwin and his father, John R. Irwin, and photographs of John Irwin's medical practice.

Collection (1870-1878) of manuscripts and printed materials relating to the voyage of the Clipper Ship SS RINGLEADER from New York, NY to San Francisco, CA, via Shanghai, China, including a log book of the voyage by George E. Peer, photographic print of Captain W. E. Bray, ship's tracking chart, English and Swedish New Testaments, and 3 Chinese language newspapers. Purchased from Ten Pound Island Book Co.

Oral history interview with prominent African American businessman and political leader of Greenville, North Carolina, named Denison D. "D.D." Garrett, Sr. He discusses his background, education, business pursuits, and political involvement including race relations in Greenville and Pitt County, especially during the Civil Rights era.

Records (1948-1972) of Wilson, NC tobacco warehouse, including poundage sheets, sales records, ledger sheets, daily summary journals, correction sheets, and other financial records.

Material (1844-1891) including correspondence, account books, speeches, pamphlets, receipts, legal papers, and publications concerning William Robinson (an Irish immigrant) who was a newspaper publisher, town commissioner and mayor of Goldsboro, Wayne County, North Carolina, and his son Dr. Marius Emmet Robinson who practiced in Goldsboro, operated a drugstore with his brother, and was the first chief of staff of Goldsboro's first hospital.

Papers (1861-1878, 1892) consisting of correspondence, specifically special orders, general orders, circulars, and telegrams. Collection also includes a scrapbook and the Howard Family Tree.

This collection consists of a framed Evans & Cogswell lithograph facsimile [c. 1860] of the South Carolina Secession from the United States document and the framed front page of the February 28, 1863, issue of the Opelousas Courier [Louisiana] newspaper printed on wallpaper.

Collection (1766-2010) consists of items related to the Augustus Moore (June 8, 1803-March 23, 1851) family of Chowan and Halifax Cos., N.C., his children Augustus Minton Moore, William Armistead Moore, Henrietta Moore Sutton, Susan Augustus Moore Righton, Mary Elizabeth Moore, Alfred Moore and John Armistead Moore, and the descendants of John Armistead Moore. Included are account books, legal records, land transactions, estate records, correspondence, clippings, and autograph books (1855, 1865) belonging to family members who attended Miss Willard's Female Seminary in Troy, N.Y., and Patapsco Female Institute in Ellicott City, Maryland. Also included are identified photographs (cartes de visite, tintypes, cased pictures, albums) of the Moore, Gilliam, and Skinner, families, religious books such as Roman Catholic Missals, Episcopal Books of Common Prayer and Bibles, UNC-Chapel Hill diplomas (1824), and items related to the 1878 Exposition in Paris, France.

Personal files (1975-2000) for active North Carolina Democratic Party member and advocate for women Betty Speir, including correspondence, reports, agendas, minutes and memos pertaining to the equal rights amendment, the governor's crime commission, and state and local democratic party politics.

These oral history interviews were conducted by Donald Y. Leggett in June 2020 as his final project of employment in the Chancellor's Office. They center around people's impressions of how East Carolina has filled underdog and alpha dog roles over time.

This collection contains clippings, signed petitions, correspondence, filed notes, and blueprints. There are indications that the material may have originated with N.C. State Geologist Joseph Hyde Pratt.

The Alice Morgan Person collection (1874-1943, 2004-2008) contains ledgers, testimonials, advertisements, correspondence, and news clippings related to the Mrs. Joe Person Remedy Company. The Remedy was developed by Alice M. Person (Mrs. Joe Person) of Franklinton, Charlotte, and Kittrell, North Carolina, and marketed by her and later her son Rufus M. Person. Other material pertains to the sale of her arrangements of popular songs, and to family life.
