This collection contains correspondence, financial, and legal records (ca. 1830s-1870s, especially 1850s-1860s) related to Bladen County, North Carolina. Most of material is addressed to William Hendon White, who was Hugh A. Clark's great grandfather. W. H. White was sheriff of Bladen County during the early Reconstruction years (definitely 1866-1867 and perhaps longer) and there are communications with the 2nd Military District for this period. A lot of the correspondence is between W. H. White and his brother George Montgomery White (1828-1860) during the early 1850s while George was working on his 1853 A. B. degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Papers (ca. 1867-2007, undated) including photographic negatives, prints, slides and manuscript materials; also video cassettes and moving picture film reels produced during his career as a professional photographer for the Greenville Daily Reflector newspaper, 1952-1972; as bureau chief for the Raleigh News and Observer in Eastern North Carolina; and as news director for television stations WITN-TV, WNCT-TV, 1972-1997; also including personal materials relating to his family and to William W. The Edward Baxter Billingsley Collection (1817-1819, 1938–1999, undated) consists of historical research materials, drafts, and a typescript copy (643 pages) of One Destroyer and World War II: A History of the U. S. S. Emmons (DD457-DM22), by Edward Baxter Billingsley, that he later published as The Emmons Saga: A History of the U. S. S. Emmons (DD457 – DM22). Also included are photographic prints, photocopied naval documents, and microfilm reels concerning his research, and correspondence (1817-1819) related to his dissertation on Chilean and Peruvian wars of Independence.

This collection contains material (1818-1976) belonging to Emily Louise Loftin (May 10, 1898-December 20, 1985) of Carteret County, North Carolina. She was an educator, librarian, and historian. Included are correspondence, land records, legal records, receipts, wills, and estate records related to the Laughinghouse and Pugh families of Pitt County, N.C., the related Bright and Loftin families of Lenoir County, N.C., and the Pipkin family of Wayne County, N.C. This material was transferred from the Emily Loftin Collection at the History Museum of Carteret County, N.C. Material related to Carteret County remains at the History Museum of Carteret County.
Papers, 1861-2011 (bulk 1940-1992), undated, of Senator Robert Burren Morgan, an ECU alumnus and lawyer, who served the state of North Carolina in a variety of elected and appointed positions. His first elected position was clerk of court in Harnett County. He was elected to the State Senate, served as president pro tempore of the Senate, and was twice elected Attorney General of North Carolina. He served in this position until 1974, when he won the United States Senate seat vacated by Senator Samuel James "Sam" Ervin, Jr. Morgan served as United States Senator from 1975 to 1981. He returned to his law practice following an unsuccessful reelection campaign and later served as Director of the State Bureau of Investigation from 1985 until 1992. Morgan served as a member of the ECU Board of Trustees for fifteen years, including nine terms as chair in the 1960s. He helped the institution achieve university status and was instrumental in establishing the ECU School of Medicine. The collection includes series relating to Morgan's family and personal matters, North Carolina Senate Files, Attorney General Files, United States Senate Files, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Files, and Oversized Materials Files. It includes manuscripts, photographs, audio and video materials, electronic records, printed materials, and ephemera.

Collection (1803-1996) pertaining to Martin County, NC, farmer John Conrad Getsinger, Sr., (Nov. 4, 1812-Jan. 16, 1891), a native of Wurttemburg, Germany, and several of his descendants consisting of correspondence, memoranda books, a sketchbook created by Mr. Getsinger while he was a soldier (1847-1848) fighting in the Mexican War, financial records, Civil War records pertaining to Mr. Getsinger and his son John C. Getsinger, Jr., religious publications, Primitive Baptist Church records (especially for Smithwick's Creek Primitive Baptist Church), pamphlets, broadsides, photographs, legal papers, newspaper clippings, and miscellany.
