The Special Collections teaching collection consists of sources used for archival classroom instruction. Material within the collection was identified as out of scope for our regular collections, yet still useful as a primary or secondary source in our teaching sessions.

Papers (1943-1995) including correspondence, photographs, a map, a phase chart, 2 poems, courts martial, etc.

Personal files (undated) of U.S. Naval Officers (USNA class of 1925) and former director of Naval history, including correspondence, notes, published articles and reviews, speeches, oral interview transcripts, clippings, an account of duty in the Asiatic Squadron, dedication programs, and miscellaneous.

Records (1907-1909, 1912,1920-1921,1938) of Wilson, NC Tobacco warehouse firm, including ledgers, correspondence and financial reports.

Collection (1936-1985, undated) of programs (the majority published by Playbill), librettos and souvenir pamphlets documenting plays, theatrical dance and musical productions performed in New York City and Stockholm. The publications are printed in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish languages.

Thomas R. Lundin was born March 24, 1982, in Madison, Wisconsin. After completing high school in 2000 in Greenville, North Carolina, he joined the U.S. Army and served as an Apache Helicopter crew chief for 3rd Infantry Division in Kuwait during the Iraqi War of 2003. This collection contains papers, a diary, maps, military manuals, and ephemera related to his service, especially during the Iraqi War.

The Vertical File contains brochures, pamphlets, newsletters, and other printed ephemeral material pertaining to North Carolina people, organizations, places, history, and events. Files on a county, for example, typically include brochures / maps pertaining to natural or historic sites, cultural events, and local businesses.

1.65 cubic feet; Collection (1830-1926) including correspondence, ephemera, photographic prints, manuscript volumes & oversized materials, relating to the McDaniel, Harvey, and related families of Kinston and Trenton in Jones & Lenoir Counties, North Carolina, including materials related to the family's real estate holdings, business and social life, church activities, and children's educations.

The Nell Wise Wechter Papers contains copies of the author's books, Taffy of Torpedo Junction (1957), Betsy Dowdy's Ride (1960), Swamp Girl (1971), and The Mighty Midgetts of Chicamacomico (1974). Also included are the typed and written drafts, typed manuscripts with revisions, original manuscripts, and galley proofs for her books. There is also correspondence from the Library of Congress, British Embassy, and Mariners Museum regarding Wechter's requests for information to assist her in writing her novels.

Papers (1914-1986), including correspondence, legal documents, tax receipts, newspaper clippings financial accounts, business journals (1931-1975), and miscellaneous materials.

Papers of Merrill Moore (1929–1987, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Columbia, Tennessee-born American poet, physician and psychiatrist, who became a leader and spokesman for the Fugitive Group of Southern poets that included Robert Penn Warren and Allen Tate, among others; including correspondence, manuscript materials, printed materials and loose manuscript materials from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Papers (1942-1962) of U.S. Navy enlisted man, who retired as Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate (E-7) pertaining to his service aboard the USS INTREPID, USS BONHOMME RICHARD, USS BOXER, USS TICONDEROGA, USS PINE ISLAND, USS FORRESTAL, and various shore installations, including 3 8 mm film strips (ca. 550 feet) of flight operations aboard the USS BOXER, 1952, clippings, printed materials, manuscript materials, and photographic prints.

Papers (1833-1986) compiled by Elizabeth "Bessie" Hampton Wade Wooten, the wife of noted Greenville, NC, Democratic Party political leader Frank M. Wooten, Sr. Materials include correspondence, clippings, ephemera, financial records, maps, newspapers, photographic prints, photograph album, printed materials and scrapbook materials related to her education, friends, family, travels, and social interests.
