Papers of William Jay Smith (1970-1983) documenting the life and literary career the noted Winfield, Louisiana-born American poet, and educator at Hollins College, Virginia who also served as the nineteenth poet laureate consultant in poetry to the Library of Congress (1968-1970); consisting of oversized printed materials, including broadsides and brochures, entitled Oxford Doggerel (1983) and Army Brat: A Dramatic Narrative for Three Voices by William Jay Smith (1982); also including loose manuscript items transferred from William Jay Smith's works in the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including publicity photographs found in Army Brat (1982) and New and Selected Poems (1944).

Papers (1943-1990 [Bulk: 1969-1984]. undated) documenting the life and literary career of W. D. [William De Witt] Snodgrass (1926-2009), a Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania-born American poet, literary critic, translator and educator at various universities, including the University of Delaware (1979-1994); consisting of typescripts of two works: Autobiographical Essays (1979) and From the "Death of Cock Robin" (1979); also a proof of his pamphlet Magda Goebbels (1983); loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including from his works entitled D. D. Byrde Callyng, Jennie Wrenn (1984), Heart's Needle (1959), In Radical Pursuit (1976), Six Minnesinger Songs (1983), and Spaulding Distinguished Lectures (1969); and a printed brochure entitled A Note from the Poet (undated) by Snodgrass.

This collection contains the records of the Fraternity and Sorority Life Office including publications produced by Greek organizations at East Carolina University.

Papers of Madison Smartt Bell (1922-1997 [Bulk: 1957-1990], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the Nashville, Tennessee-born American novelist, including manuscript materials, proofs of published works, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, and oversized materials, relating primarily to his books Zero db and Other Stories, Barking Man, and The Washington Square Ensemble, and others.

Papers (1942-1945) of a U.S. Naval officer, USNA Class of 1941, consisting of Battle of Vella Gulf battle reports (1943), a history of the USS Lang (DD-399), USS Lang action reports (Feb. 1942-April 1944), naval communiques relating to USS Lang (1942-1944), and after-action reports for the battles of Vella Gulf, Guadalcanal, Wewak, (New Guinea), Morotai, Leyte Gulf, Okinawa, Lingayen Gulf, and other Pacific Ocean operations in which the USS Lang participated (1942-1945)

Hyatt's involvement in politics. There is also material related to George C. Wallace's campaign for president in 1968, 1972, and 1976. Hyatt was state chairman for Wallace's run in 1976.

Papers of Barry Hannah (1960-2016 [Bulk: 1972-2016], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Meridian, Mississippi-born, novelist and educator at the University of Mississippi, where he directed the Masters of Fine Arts program; consisting of correspondence, manuscripts, photographic materials, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, proofs of published materials, & printed broadsides of his poem Boomerang and other works.

Lenoir County Colonial Commission Records (2006–2007, undated) pertaining to events and activities honoring and celebrating the life and accomplishments of landowner, Revolutionary War general, and six term governor of North Carolina, Richard Caswell, held in Kinston, N.C., 12–19 August 2007; also including newspaper clippings, programs of events, correspondence, financial records, printed materials, digital materials, drafts, and documents regarding the publication of Clayton Brown Alexander's 1930 PhD dissertation, which was a biography of Richard Caswell, entitled "First Patriots and the Best of Men: Richard Caswell in Public Life," which was edited by W. Keats Sparrow.

The Attic officially opened September 7, 1971, in Greenville, NC. The nightclub served as a local venue for entertainment and live music. The collection spans 1970-1985 and includes photographs, posters, advertisements, t-shirts, and a few publications. The strength of the collection is in documenting the variety of music performed as well as the club's later efforts to branch out into comedy and other forms of entertainment.
