Papers of William Styron (1930-2007, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Newport News, Virginia-born American novelist and essayist, including correspondence; manuscripts, photographic prints, proofs of published materials, printed material, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection and oversized materials, by or about William Styron, Malcom Cowley, James Jones, Eugene Genovese, and others.

Papers consist of Diary containing descriptions of Civil War camp life and of the Battle of Cheat Mountain, West Virginia (9/12/1861) which was Robert E. Lee's first campaign.

Yukon gold rush diary (1898 - 1899) (Photocopy [117 p.]) and typescript copy with introduction by Frank Moss [January 1998, 44 p.] and copies of photographic prints of Yukon gold rush [15 p.] Original diary withdrawn 5/9/2002, in possession of the donors.

Collection (1940-1946, undated) relating to the Hagerty Company, Cohasset, MA, including its construction of PT (Patrol Torpedo) boats and RADAR tripods, model yachts, sailboats, skiffs, dinghies, and outboards, including correspondence, photographic prints, blueprints and printed materials.

This collection contains financial records (including also bills of sale for enslaved persons) and deeds (1743-1872), and correspondence (1821-1891) related especially to Elias Fort and Dr. Matthew C. Whitaker of Halifax County, N.C. The correspondence also concerns other members of the Whitaker family and related families.

This collection contains the administrative records for the School of Communication including syllabi, faculty meeting minutes, annual reports, unit codes, and printed materials such as announcements, brochures, and publications.
