Map (1597) of the East Coast of North America, by Cornelius Wytfliet, extending from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to Cape Breton (21- 41. North Latitude; 287- 308 West Longitude) excised from Descriptionis Ptolemaeici augmentum, the first atlas of America. 9 x 11.25 x .125. Matted. Hand colored. Watermark is present, but the animal depicted is unclear.

Matriculation and lecture tickets for H. B. Marriott at the University of Maryland between 1881 and 1883. Also includes a letter stating Marriott had passed final test to earn doctorate in medicine.

Papers (1728-1901) including correspondence, inventories, wills,estates, land records, legal records, deeds of enslaved persons, financial records, tax receipts, poems, cipher book, account book, and miscellaneous.

Yvonne Cobourn speaks about her time as a student at East Carolina University in the late 1970s, including her classes and her on and off-campus jobs including working with Dr. Steven Riggs. She discusses her life in Greenville, North Carolina including local restaurants and attending musical performances at the Attic nightclub.

Papers of Robert Morgan (1967-1984) documenting the life and literary career of the noted North Carolina mountains-born American poet, short story writer, biographer and educator at Cornell University, 1971-, who specializes in Appalachian regional topics; consisting of correspondence with Stuart Wright, typescripts of his poem Glacier, a printed broadside of Portfolio / 1967: Lillabulero Press: Poems by Russell Banks – Douglas Collins – William Matthews – Robert Morgan – Newton Smith – Peter Wild (Chapel Hill, 1967); and an oversized newspaper entitled The Times Monitor, Ithaca, New York, (1984) inscribed by Robert Morgan to Stuart Wright.

In 1972, Evelyn McNeill was offered a position as an assistant professor of anatomy at East Carolina University School of Medicine (renamed Brody School of Medicine in 1999). She was hired to teach neuroanatomy to medical students as well as physical and occupational therapy students. During her career at the medical school (1972-2001), Evelyn opened her home to students. She began traditions of hosting an end-of-first-year party and another for Halloween. Included in this collection are personal photographs from these parties, historical photographs of the growth and development of the school of medicine, newspaper clippings of medical student announcements, and medical school class photos and rosters during the period of 1972 to 2004.
