The John W. Warner Papers (1947-1986) document the career of filmmaker and entrepreneur John W. Warner, with a primary focus on the creation, financing, distribution, and later rediscovery of the independent film Pitch A Boogie Woogie. Dating chiefly from 1946 to 1958, with additional materials from 1986, the collection includes correspondence, legal and financial records, promotional materials, memorabilia, scripts, photographs, and audiovisual media that illuminate the business and creative challenges of independent filmmaking in the mid twentieth century. Supplementary materials reflect Warner's broader professional activities in North Carolina, including television production and local theater operations. Together, the papers provide insight into regional film production, film exhibition and promotion, and the processes through which a largely forgotten work was reclaimed and recontextualized by scholars and the public decades later.

This collection (ca. 188196-1986) includes items collected by the donor's father Fred S. Hudson, Jr., related to early American illustrators, especially for children's literature. Included are prints, magazine covers, whole magazines, illustrations for magazine stories, an original pen and ink drawing, advertisements, books, posters, figurines, frontispieces and china plates.

This collection contains the book Adolf Hitler: Bilder aus dem Leben des Fuhrers. It is a Nazi propaganda biography of Adolf Hitler (published in 1936) in the form of an album with text that includes 188 black and white and 5 colored mounted cigarette cards produced by Cigaretten-Bilderdienst. Also included are fifty-seven 4 7/8" x 6 5/8" and sixty-six 3 1/8" x 4 5/8" black and white Nazi propaganda cigarette cards (circa 1933).

Papers (1942-1997) of U.S. naval officer, who rose to the rank of rear admiral commanding the Navy's Recruiting Command and the Naval Inshore Warfare Forces, Atlantic Fleet, 1943-1973; East Carolina University graduate, (1943); businessman, 1973-1977; and head of North Carolina State Ports Authority (1979-1985), including documents, photographic prints and negatives, correspondence, certificates, clippings, printed forms, and printed materials.

This collection contains minutes from several eastern North Carolina Primitive Baptist churches including Mill Branch (1882-1998) and Nashville (1896-1983) churches in Nash County, Briery Swamp Church (1991-2006), and Kehukee (1971-1994) and Contentnea (October 1985) Primitive Baptist Associations. Other records include expense accounts and correspondence for Mill Branch Church; Bible records for the Barnhill family; correspondence and publications relating to a schism (1979) between Elder David Spangler and Brethren Eldon Gilbert and St. Clair Graham of Ontario, Canada; forms and clippings related to the Norfolk and Briery Creek Associations; and miscellaneous items.

The Watson and Boomer families of Beaufort and Hyde Counties, North Carolina, were connected through marriage. Included are original deeds from the early and mid-1800s; birth, death, and marriage dates and genealogy notes; baby book-type notes about the lives of 2 children (1885-1888) of William I. Watson (his mother was a Boomer) and wife "Ms. Charlie" Sidney Archbell Watson; World War I letters (1917-1918) written by William E. Watson to relatives in Aurora (Beaufort County), North Carolina, from Camp Sevier and Fort Jackson in South Carolina; and photographs (late 1800s-early 1900s).

Papers (1806-1906) including correspondence, financial papers, journals, notebooks, legal papers and business documents relating to Timothy Hunter (1804-1875), a prominent Pasquotank County, N.C., shipbuilder and mariner.
