This collection consists of papers relating to William Alva Greenleaf. Documents within this collection include, papers relating to William's service in the Civil War, correspondence, legal and estate records, financial records and genealogy records.

This photograph (according to James R. Morgan III, a historian of African American Freemasonry) is of the United Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation. The occasion for the meeting was the 25th Annual Session being held in New Bern, North Carolina, on October 20 - 22, 1912. Included in the photograph are Sovereign Grand Commander Robert Pendleton and Sovereign Grand Commander James F. Rickards.

Personal Files relating to activities of NC Board of Conservation and Development (1950-1953), NC Art Society (1962-1965), Pitt County Development Commission (1961-1971), Rotary Club of Greenville (1961-1971), United Nations, and miscellaneous activities. Also includes the book New Nigeria, Southern Baptists at Work written by C. Sylvester Green and published in 1936 by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

The collection is comprised of two ledger books and a booklet. The ledgers are from 1945 to 1951 and 1952 to 1958. In them is a list of examinations with date, name, date paid, and amount. A separate section is maintained for "negro" or "colored" patients.

This collection (1821-2007) contains several groups of family history-related papers concerning eastern North Carolina and a large number of unrelated miscellaneous items such as photographs, church records, Bible records, and rare printed items on a variety of subjects. The majority of the family papers concern the Croom and Whitfield families of Lenoir County, N.C. Other family papers concern the Harvey family of Greene County, N.C., the Jordan and Waters families of Washington, N.C., the Meeks family of Pitt County, the Outlaw family of Lenoir County and the Thompson family of Georgia. A large part of this collection concerns the Ficklen family of Greenville, N.C., including scrapbooks, diaries, an autograph book and a post card collection. Some items concern the colorful poet, magazine editor, railroad speculator, paper mill owner, Civil War blockade-runner, and sea captain Appleton Oaksmith who lived in Carteret County, N.C., for fifteen years (1872-1887). Also included are ambrotype photographs of Confederate Civil War soldiers James Needham Alexander, who served in Company A, 11th North Carolina Troops (Infantry) and Stanhope Washington Alexander, who served in Company H, 35th North Carolina Regiment.

Memorial Tribute (undated) to Lieutenant Martin H. Ray, Jr., US Naval officer, who dies in the Battle of Midway on June 6, 1942.

Material includes administrative files, correspondence, publications, photographs, and memorabilia related to Coach Clarence Stasavich's time as football coach and athletic director (1961-1975) of East Carolina College and East Carolina University.

Papers of Sam Witt (1993-2008) documenting the life and literary career of the noted English-born poet, journalist and educator at University of Iowa and other universities; including letters to Stuart Wright, typescript manuscript of Elegy of a Living Man, by Sam Witt; also loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Records from the North Carolina Public Health Association includes newsletters, programs from meetings and conferences, minutes from governing council and executive committee, correspondence, memos, and adult health promotion treasurer's report books.

This candid and detailed World War I diary (April 25, 1918-March 12, 1919) was kept by Carl Whittlesey of Barton County, MO, during his service with the 313 Engineers 88th Division. He kept detailed entries regarding his training at Camp Dodge in Johnston, Iowa, his participation in the Alsace Campaign in France, and his involvement in developing the war ravaged areas in Europe.

This collection contains information regarding the history and operation of the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences at East Carolina University.
