This collection contains the records of the former ECU News Bureau, including press releases, newspaper clippings, sound recordings of programming, and information about East Carolina gaining university status.

This collection contains the congressional files for U.S. House of Representatives member Walter B. Jones, Jr., who represented the 3rd Congressional District of North Carolina from 1995 until his death in 2019. Included are files, scrapbooks, media, and electronic files. The electronic files were created by his staff and included speeches, correspondence, articles, promotional material, notes and videos for the years 2005-2018.

Material relating to the life of Clarence Stasavich before he came to East Carolina University in 1962 to be the head football coach (and later athletic director) and after his death in 1975. Included is correspondence (1942-1945) related to his time in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was an LST Commander in several theatres of war, items related to his time at Lenoir Rhyne College as a football coach prior to coming to East Carolina University, and clippings and documents related to his death in 1975, the subsequent memorial service, and scholarships created in his memory.

Papers (1865-1954, undated) consisting of correspondence, speeches, financial and legal records, a minute book, a guest register, photographs, newspapers, genealogical notes, deeds, etc., related to the career of Dr. Charles O'Hagan Laughinghouse (1871-1930) of Greenville, N.C., and to the Laughinghouse and related Stokes families. Besides having a successful practice in Greenville, Dr. Laughinghouse was a respected member of the North Carolina State Board of Health for several years beginning in 1911, served as president of the Medical Society of the State of North Carolina in 1916 and 1917, and served as State Health Officer from 1926 until his death in 1930.

This collection contains a journal (December 15, 1861-April 15, 1865) kept by Isaac Liscomb, Master (Commander) of the U.S. Brig Dragoon. Dragoon was a private merchant vessel (formerly called the Remington) leased or purchased by the Union Army for use in the Civil War. As part of General Burnside's fleet, the Dragoon was involved in the Battle of Roanoke Island. Liscomb kept detailed accounts of that battle and of the voyages the ship made during the Civil War to transport troops and supplies to ports including Port Royal and Folly Island (SC), Pensacola (FL), and Morehead City (NC).

Other records include expense accounts and correspondence for Mill Branch Church; Bible records for the Barnhill family; correspondence and publications relating to a schism (1979) between Elder David Spangler and Brethren Eldon Gilbert and St. Clair Graham of Ontario, Canada; forms and clippings related to the Norfolk and Briery Creek Associations; and miscellaneous items.

Collection (1902-2003) of genealogical and historical research files compiled by John Henry Oden III. Also includes the R. C. Chadwick Mercantile Records, Claude F. Pilley Papers, and the Windley Family Papers. The John W. Warner Papers (1947-1986) document the career of filmmaker and entrepreneur John W. Warner, with a primary focus on the creation, financing, distribution, and later rediscovery of the independent film Pitch A Boogie Woogie. Dating chiefly from 1946 to 1958, with additional materials from 1986, the collection includes correspondence, legal and financial records, promotional materials, memorabilia, scripts, photographs, and audiovisual media that illuminate the business and creative challenges of independent filmmaking in the mid twentieth century. Supplementary materials reflect Warner's broader professional activities in North Carolina, including television production and local theater operations. Together, the papers provide insight into regional film production, film exhibition and promotion, and the processes through which a largely forgotten work was reclaimed and recontextualized by scholars and the public decades later.
