Collection consists of material related to the history of the Lynndale Garden Club of Greenville, North Carolina, from its founding in 1974 to 2016. Included are meeting minutes, executive board minutes, newsletters, photographs, clippings, yearbooks, brochures, membership rosters, treasurer reports, constitutions and by-laws, and engagement calendar books put out by the Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc., which contain photographs of winning arrangements by garden club members (including members of Lynndale Garden Club).

Memoir (1840) including personal memoir of Joel Root, adventures while engaged in sealing operations, cast ashore on the Indian inhabited coast of Peru.

Collection (1841-1968) including correspondence, legal papers, accounts, receipts, pamphlets, clippings, photographs, poems, pocket ledgers, Civil War correspondence, letters and miscellaneous.

Collection including correspondence, legal papers, photographs, newspapers, etc. relating to the North Carolina Shipbuilding Company, and the construction of "Liberty Ships" during World War II.

Ledgers, day books and other records (1920-1980), of Falkland, NC Mercantile business and its antecedent firms.

Papers (1933-1988, undated) documenting the life and literary career of Katherine Anne Porter (1890-1980), the noted Indian Creek, Texas-born American short story writer and novelist, including correspondence; also original art, photographic prints, printed material and loose manuscripts transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection pertaining to Robert Penn Warren, Robert Lowell, Richard Ghormley Eberhart, William H. Littlefield, and others.

Papers (1922-[1937]1954, undated) including business and personal correspondence, financial papers, photographs, and miscellaneous material.

Papers (1783, 1812-1901, 1912, 1934, undated) consisting of indentures and land records; wills, an inventory and other estate records; correspondence; receipts, a promissory note, and other financial records; a broadside; a poem; a postcard.; and miscellaneous.

Collection holds medical notebooks from various sources. Two notebooks found in the Laupus Library History Collection with no presently known provenance. One notebook is a dietetics notebook from E. Alexander at General Hospital, Patterson, New Jersey. The other notebook is Dr. Edward Beach Crowell's medical recipe book. An additional notebook was added to the collection in 2018. This notebook, purchased from Palinurus, was the business record for a Connecticut physician in the 1840s. Two more notebooks were added in 2022. They document medical products.

The papers consist mainly of correspondence, North Carolina Medical Society presidential address and gavel, playbill and study guide, curriculum vitae, photographs, and newspaper articles.

Letterbooks (1864-1866, 1868) including correspondence, letterbooks of handwritten copies of letters, one speech, one cash book, one invoice book, one monthly statement book, one order book, two poems.

This collection (1966-2011) consists of papers, ephemera, and printed oversize materials related to Democratic and Republican party politics in North Carolina that document elections and Chester Julian (C.J.) Hyatt's involvement in politics. There is also material related to George C. Wallace's campaign for president in 1968, 1972, and 1976. Hyatt was state chairman for Wallace's run in 1976.
