This collection contains materials that date from Dowell's time as a student at East Carolina Teachers Training school and her subsequent teaching career. It contains awards received from both civic and professional organizations, clippings, personal artifacts, and scholarly works including her Masters Thesis.

Papers (1870-1981) including correspondence, legal documents, ledgers, literary manuscripts, stock certificates, deeds, charters, minutes, photographs, clippings, financial records, orders and publications.

Papers of George Core (1960-1997 [Bulk: 1960-1983]) documenting the life and literary career of the American historian, literary critic, and editor relating to his life and career as editor of The Sewanee Review, 1973-2016, including holographs, typescripts and other manuscript materials; photographic prints; loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including correspondence with Donald Davidson, Stuart Wright and Durrett Wagner of Swallowtail Press; a photograph of George Core at The Sewanee Review; a note about Andrew Lytle's work The Hero With The Private Parts; and materials relating to books he reviewed, including Any Cold Jordan and Camping Out.

Papers of Sam Witt (1993-2008) documenting the life and literary career of the noted English-born poet, journalist and educator at University of Iowa and other universities; including letters to Stuart Wright, typescript manuscript of Elegy of a Living Man, by Sam Witt; also loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Papers of Robert Buffington (1979), documenting the life of the noted Illinois-born American literary critic and educator, biographer of John Crowe Ransom and proposed biographer of Allen Tate, who was also managing editor at The University of Georgia Press, consisting of an article entitled Young Hawk Circling, related to the early life of Allen Tate, originally published in The Southern Review (Fall 1979).

The Records of the Regional Development Institute contain published reports, correspondence, survey data, publications, newsletters, and video files related to the efforts of the Regional Development Institute at East Carolina University.

Manuscript (1871-1961) including photographs, map, statements, records, lumber business.

Papers (1950s-1960s) of prominent Greenville, NC attorney including correspondence, affidavits, appeals, motions, financial records, and a variety of other legal documents.

Papers (1943-1988) including manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, published works, vital records and newspaper clippings pertaining to the life of David B. Stevens.

The papers consist of two medical certificates and a remembrance card.

This collection (1962-1998) includes scrapbooks documenting activities (1986-1989) of the Junior Confederacy Chapter No. 775 (Wilson) of the Children of the Confederacy, activities (1962-1963, 1970-1971, 1988-1991) of the John W. Dunham Chapter No. 374 (Wilson) of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and activities (1989-1991) of the Junior Confederacy Chapter No. 66 (Wilson) of the Children of the Confederacy. Also included are some loose publications (1962-1998) such as yearbooks, convention programs, and minutes.

This collection contains the minute books (1803-1944) and some loose documents for the Sandy Bottom Primitive Baptist Church in Lenoir County, North Carolina.
