Papers, 1937-2001, of U. S. naval officer, including diaries, scrapbooks, orders, photographs, biographical accounts, and other materials, compiled by Commander Charles P. Trumbull (USN ret.), documenting his naval career from his appointment to the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, as a member of the Class of 1941 to his retirement from the Navy in 1961, and his post-retirement life, 1937-2001.

Papers of Donald Davidson (1981, 1986) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Giles County, Tennessee-born American poet, essayist, social and literary critic and author; consisting of a printed broadside of his poem An Epinician Ode in Honor of John Crowe Ransom, published by Palaemon Press (1981); noted by Stuart Wright on verso: typescript is signed by Donald Davidson 'At Bread Loaf, Vermont / July 28, 1958; also including a letter from M. Thomas Inge to Stuart Wright (1986) concerning the possible publication of Inge's correspondence with Davidson.

These records (1894-2000) pertain to the Salisbury-Rowan Lodge No. 100 of the Knights of Pythias in North Carolina, the Salisbury Lodge No. 24 and the Rowan Lodge No. 100. Included are Minute books, Membership Roll books, semi-annual reports, correspondence, financial papers, applications for membership, withdrawal and transfer cards, dismissal and suspension certificates, rosters, directories, photographs and publications that contain procedures for ranks and rituals. Two documents (1898, undated) relate to the Zeb Vance Lodge No. 65 of North Carolina.

Papers (1772-1861) including financial records, correspondence, deeds, records of Masonic Order, and miscellaneous.

This collection includes 108 Chatham County, North Carolina, warrants (1804-1840); 2 Onslow County, North Carolina, grants (1788, no date); and 1897 financial receipt with 4 handwritten medicinal cures by Wyley M. Cates of Teer and Alamance County, NC, and print ads for his cures.

Papers (1821-2000) consisting of correspondence, receipts, promissory notes, summons, chattel mortgages, pictures, Bible records, advertisements, etc., related to the Elmore family of Wayne and Lenoir Counties, North Carolina, and related families.

Papers (1925-1978) consisting of a diary, copy of a manuscript, bulletins, newsletters, photographs, and miscellaneous material.

Papers (1869-1870, 1873-1878, 1893) consisting of diaries containing weather information, financial statements, description of tunnel being constructed, planting, etc.

Diary written by Edward L. Williams, while serving in the United States Marine Corps, describing his voyage, aboard the USS Alaska, to the European Station under the command of Captain Samuel "Powhatan" and under the direct supervision of Captain W. R. Brown, including their cruise along the Italian coast , frequent port calls, shipboard life, behavior of sailors, and his friendships and acquaintances among the ship's crew.
