Collection contains Greenville and Pitt County, North Carolina, related photographs and ephemera (1917-2007) concerning the Pickwick Book Club, Girl Scouts, Greenville High School, and the Greenville Rotary Club, as well as documents commending the 7th Division American Expeditionary Force for their service in World War I. A large portion of the collection relates to the genealogy of the Goree, Kittrell, Hardee/Hardy, Tull, Proctor, and Hinton families, especially in Eastern North Carolina.

This collection contains Ann Laliotes remarks for the dedication of John Laliotes Political Science Library, the dedication program for the Ann. B. Laliotes Reading Room in Joyner Library, and ECU ephemera including a library card and Dean's List announcement for John Laliotes, and a tuition receipt for Ann Laliotes.

Papers of Robert Morgan (1967-1984) documenting the life and literary career of the noted North Carolina mountains-born American poet, short story writer, biographer and educator at Cornell University, 1971-, who specializes in Appalachian regional topics; consisting of correspondence with Stuart Wright, typescripts of his poem Glacier, a printed broadside of Portfolio / 1967: Lillabulero Press: Poems by Russell Banks – Douglas Collins – William Matthews – Robert Morgan – Newton Smith – Peter Wild (Chapel Hill, 1967); and an oversized newspaper entitled The Times Monitor, Ithaca, New York, (1984) inscribed by Robert Morgan to Stuart Wright.

Papers of Sam Witt (1993-2008) documenting the life and literary career of the noted English-born poet, journalist and educator at University of Iowa and other universities; including letters to Stuart Wright, typescript manuscript of Elegy of a Living Man, by Sam Witt; also loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Papers of Mary Eloise von Schrader Jarrell (1965-2012, undated) documenting the life and literary career the St. Louis, Missouri-born, memoirist and patron of the arts, who was the widow and literary executor of poet and educator Randall Jarrell (1914-1965) consisting of correspondence with Stuart Wright, typescripts, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, printed materials, and oversized materials relating primarily to her life with Randall Jarrell and the promotion of his works and literary influence on American poetry.

Papers of Robert Buffington (1979), documenting the life of the noted Illinois-born American literary critic and educator, biographer of John Crowe Ransom and proposed biographer of Allen Tate, who was also managing editor at The University of Georgia Press, consisting of an article entitled Young Hawk Circling, related to the early life of Allen Tate, originally published in The Southern Review (Fall 1979).

Papers of Lincoln Fitzell (1958) documenting the life and literary career of noted the San Francisco, California-born poet, who also worked as a longshoreman; consisting of manuscript typescripts of his literary essays, short stories, poems, and a novel The Sword and the Dragon (1958).

Papers (1943-1945) of naval reserve officer who commanded the Naval Armed Guard aboard the SS EDWIN L. GODKIN and the SS CHIPPEWA, during World War II, including logbooks, inventories, reports, memorandums, voyage itinerary, orders, photographs, etc.

Collection holds medical notebooks from various sources. Two notebooks found in the Laupus Library History Collection with no presently known provenance. One notebook is a dietetics notebook from E. Alexander at General Hospital, Patterson, New Jersey. The other notebook is Dr. Edward Beach Crowell's medical recipe book. An additional notebook was added to the collection in 2018. This notebook, purchased from Palinurus, was the business record for a Connecticut physician in the 1840s. Two more notebooks were added in 2022. They document medical products.

Papers (1942-1945) of a U.S. Naval officer, USNA Class of 1941, consisting of Battle of Vella Gulf battle reports (1943), a history of the USS Lang (DD-399), USS Lang action reports (Feb. 1942-April 1944), naval communiques relating to USS Lang (1942-1944), and after-action reports for the battles of Vella Gulf, Guadalcanal, Wewak, (New Guinea), Morotai, Leyte Gulf, Okinawa, Lingayen Gulf, and other Pacific Ocean operations in which the USS Lang participated (1942-1945)

Included are family and historical documents such as legal records, maps, family trees, correspondence, clippings, genealogical notes, and photographs, and artifacts from or pertaining to Enfield (Halifax County), North Carolina, Whitaker, Vinson, Harris, and Beavans families. Also included are drawings and articles related to The Holme (ancestral home of the Whitakers in England), information about Whitaker's Chapel, the writings of John W. McGwigan (author of weekly column "Ramblin" in the Enfield Progress), and William H. "Bill" Mann, Jr.'s work on the history of Enfield.

This collection contains documents and memorabilia (1927-1956, undated) kept by Mattie Sloan related to Winstead's Mighty Minstrels and other Black Minstrel groups such as Irvin C. Miller's "Brown Skin Models". Included are ledgers (1944, 1951, 1954, undated) recording ticket sales, salaries, and routes for the Winstead group and photographs, work licenses, advertising circulars and cards, and a poster. The strength of the collection is the historical significance that shows the involvement of African Americans as performers and managers that were not often included in standard histories of circuses and vaudeville.

Collection (1942 – 2019, undated) of documents, programs, notes, correspondence, interviews, and photographic prints documenting the history and membership of the U. S. Navy B-1 Band, the first All-African American band to serve in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Material includes historical and biographical sketches of the band and ites members, and photographs of the band, rosters, the music and lyrics, interviews, and documentation of race relations in North Carolina, the United States, and the United States military during the 20th century.

Papers (1939-1952) consisting of correspondence, orders, reports, memos, newsletters, clippings, post cards, financial records, and miscellaneous.

Genealogical materials given by Martha Mewborn Marble including Bible records, photographs, notes, legal documents, land records, and clippings concerning families in Greene, Lenoir, Jones, and Pitt counties, North Carolina. Some of the families included are Mewborn, Kilpatrick, Albritton, Pugh, Cannon, Batchelor, Howell, Ormond, Carr, Hardison, Taylor, Sutton, Jackson, Frye, Ham, Hartsfield, Dupree, Faulkner, Rouse, Phillips, Franklin, Joyner, Bryan, Hatch, Cox, McCoy, and Abbott families. Also included are Le-Nea, the first yearbook (1938) for Contentnea High School, Graingers, Lenoir County, North Carolina, autograph books, and a ledger (1888-1892) of Wilbar General Store, Greenville, Pitt County, North Carolina. The Kayaitchess (1924) Vol. 1, published by the students of Kinston High School, Kinston, North Carolina, and the Connecting Link Commencement Issue 1926, published every other week by students of Kinston City Schools under the Supervision of Committee of Teachers have been transferred to the North Carolina Collection and have been catalogued.
