This collection contains a photograph album belonging to East Carolina Teachers Training School alumnus Helen Virginia Wootton. It contains photographs of friends and events at ECTTS, her family, and various places in North Carolina including Wendell, Grimesland, and Zebulon.

Interview relates to John A. Tilley's experiences as a faculty member and head of East Carolina University's public history and internship programs. Also includes his early life, family, education, historical interests, research, and the development of the public history program.

Charles A. Tournier, age 17, enlisted August 29, 1864, at Auburn, New York, was mustered in as a private, assigned to Company A, 3rd New York Light Artillery, and was discharged July 3, 1865, and returned to his family in New York.

Papers of Randall Jarrell (1913–1992 [Bulk: 1939-1966], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Nashville, Tennessee-born American poet, literary critic, children's author, essayist, novelist, and educator; including his childhood and education in Nashville, his education at Vanderbilt University, where he studied under Robert Penn Warren, Allen Tate, and John Crowe Ransom; his career of teaching English Literature at Kenyon College, University of Texas at Austin, Sarah Lawrence College, and the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina; his service, during World War II, in the U. S. Army Air Corps; his numerous awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, in 1947-1948, a grant from the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1951, the National Book Award in 1961, and as Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1956-1958; including correspondence, literary essays, lists and notes, original art, photographic prints and negatives, manuscript and printed poems, manuscript volumes, oversized materials, audio materials, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Taylor & others; also including notes, oversized materials, photographic prints, printed forms, proofs of published works, loose manuscript materials transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, & printed materials; in English & French language.

In this oral history Phillip Dixon, Sr. talks about his childhood, time as a student and Student Government Association Vice President at East Carolina University, service on the the UNC Board of Governors and ECU Board of Trustees, legal career, and family life.

This collection documents the history of the Bucklesberry farming community in Lenior County, North Carolina. The founding of the community and research on its early settlers, especially the John Sutton (ca.1720-1773) family, is also included. Research compiled by Joe P. Sutton.

Papers of Matthew J. [Joseph] Bruccoli (1983) documenting the life and literary career of the Bronx, New York-born American, literary critic, editor, and professor of English literature at the University of South Carolina, who was known for his study of F. Scott Fitzgerald; consisting of bound uncorrected proofs of his biography of James Gould Cozzens, the American novelist and short story writer, entitled James Gould Cozzens: A Life Apart (1983).

The collection includes photographs, correspondence, booklets, and other mixed materials from Dr. Andrew Best's military service, medical career, civic work, and personal life.
