Papers (1942-1946, 1951, 1991), of U.S. Naval photo interpreter and intelligence officer, including memos, photographs, pamphlets, operations manuals, worksheets, maps, reports, and ephemera reflecting operations at Normandy, Cherbourg, Sicily, and Guam during World War II.

Papers (1766-1898, undated) of the Clark and Spragins families of Halifax County, Virginia, including correspondence, financial records, legal papers, political reference, and miscellaneous.

Papers (1907–2001) of Lt. Cmndr. John W. Gilpin, U.S. Navy, including materials relating to his family; attendance at the U.S. Naval Academy (Class of 1941); World War II service on the destroyers USS Monaghan, USS Trathen, and USS Evans; his postwar education, business career, and fraternal life.

Papers (1872-1987) consisting of letters, biographical notes, scrapbook, certificates, insurance policies, booklets, bulletins, journals, sermons, etc. of Dr. Neil Graham Bethea (1872-1957), a Methodist Protestant evangelist and minister in North Carolina.

Correspondence (1894-1966, bulk 1931-1946) between Irving Sherwood Preston and his fiancée (later his wife) Alice Ann Moore of Concord, North Carolina. Preston and Moore married on June 9, 1933. During the bulk of this correspondence, Preston was attending Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia (1931-1933) and serving (1943-1945) in the military during World War II. Also included are letters from family, friends, and associates, especially the earlier letters. Letters written by Preston to his family prior to 1933 document his life at Mount Pleasant Military Collegiate Institute at Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. Other early letters are between Preston's parents (Sherwood Craig Preston and Ida Lillian MacKelvie) prior to their marriage. There are a few photographs and negatives and some ephemera such as a theater broadsheet for "The College Flapper" being produced at the Kannapolis HIgh School Building in Kannapolis, North Carolina, and sponsored by the Kannapolis Woman's Club.

Papers (1768 [1868]-1913) including correspondence, accounts, receipts, bills of lading, daybooks, ledgers, land surveys, pamphlets, photographs, newspapers, and miscellany.

The collection contains papers related to Dr. Mabe's personal medical practice, personal papers, product advertisements, and journal.

Records (1888-1981) including correspondence, minutes, treasurer's records, membership rolls, records of state conventions, a scrapbook, clippings, photographs, etc.

Papers of John Montague (1978) documenting the life and literary career of the Brooklyn, New York-born, Irish-raised poet; consisting of the photocopy typescript of a poem entitled The Great Cloak; transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, 12/1/2014.

Records (May 1940-November 1945) include mainly correspondence between Thomas William Linder of Raleigh, North Carolina, and his girlfriend (later wife) Evelyn Doris Hill of Cayce, South Carolina. Mr. Linder worked for the railroad and later in life was an engineer with Amtrak. The letters from April 1942 through August 1945 document his service in the U.S. Army with the 816th Engineer Aviation Battalion during World War II. He was promoted to corporal in September 1942. Other items include two photographs, holiday cards, a pay stub and a poem.

Papers (1909-1961) including correspondence, clippings, a travel diary, literary manuscripts, photographs, Civil War references, invitations, telegrams, anecdotes.

The Nathaniel Pettit Joy Collection (1913-1919 [Bulk: 1918-1919], undated) consists primarily of letters he and his wife Mary received from two New Jersey soldiers and two New Jersey sailors written to Nathaniel Pettit Joy and his wife Mary of Groveville, New Jersey. The soldiers, Raymond "Bud" Danley and William "Bill" Inman were privates in the Headquarters Company of the 309th Infantry Infantry, 78th Division of the American Expeditionary Force; they wrote from England, France and Fort Dix (New Jersey); the sailors were A. C. Griffiths sailor aboard the battleship USS ARIZONA in 1918-1919; and Cousin Edwin, who served aboard the USS SIBONEY, a hospital ship, 1918-1919; the collection also includes several miscellaneous items, including French postcards, photographs of unidentified soldiers and sailors, and a letter written from a Cpl. Walter P. Rogers, who was a guard at a Russian prisoner of war camp in Chemnitz, Germany early in 1919.
