This collection includes the papers of retired History Professor from Darton College (now part of Albany State University in Georgia) and author Dr. Royce G. Shingleton. These papers document his literary career in the fields of Naval History and mid-nineteenth century American South. His books include High Seas Confederate (about John Newland Maffitt), John Taylor Wood: Sea Ghost of the Confederacy, and Richard Peters: Champion of the New South; he also contributed to William N. Still's book The Confederate Navy. A native of Stantonsburg, North Carolina, Shingleton has done genealogical work relative to the Shingleton family that is also found in this collection.

Records Palaemon Press, Limited (1943-1992, [Bulk: 1977-1987], undated) documenting the history and publications of the small, Winston-Salem, North Carolina literary press, that produced small, beautiful, numbered editions of brochures, broadsides, chapbooks, & pamphlets, mainly by southern authors, owned and operated by Stuart T. Wright; consisting of correspondence with authors, printers, reviewers, and publishers; manuscript materials, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, printed materials, proofs, and oversized materials.

Collection (1770-1937) including correspondence, land records, records of enslaved persons, estate papers, financial records, deeds, land grants, a mortgage, plat, etc.

Records (1826-1990) of Chocowinity, NC Episcopal Church including Register of baptisms, confirmations and communicants, 1844-1917 (incomplete); Register of church services, 6/1/1952 - 4/9/1967; Women's Auxiliary self-study survey notebook, ca. 1955; Vestry minute book, 11/1/1989 - 10/2/1990; and Cemetery plan of 1826 (copy), 1956 and other files.

This collection contains the records of the former ECU News Bureau, including press releases, newspaper clippings, sound recordings of programming, and information about East Carolina gaining university status.

Records (1939-2013) of national and divisional offices of the U.S. Coast Guard auxiliary, including Flotilla 1301 records (1942-1945), consisting of correspondence, muster rolls, directives, minutes, services records, speeches, duty records, photographs, copies of the Navigator and other publications, conference records, regulations, policy statements, training materials, histories, films, oral histories, and scrap books. 718 boxes. 471 c.f. Papers (1941-1965) including photographs, clippings, certificates, memos, orders of U.S. Naval officer, USNA Class of 1941, official winners, luncheons, ceremonies, parties, interpreter and translator.

Diary (1944-1946) including detail activities, description of radio broadcast, propaganda pertaining to American casualties, views of World War II.

Papers (1826-1887, undated) including correspondence, journals, leaflets, diaries, verse, printed material, a drawing and miscellany.

Records (1987-2004) of the North Carolina Chapter of the Sierra Club pertaining to conservation issues in North Carolina, including correspondence, reports, directories, newsletters, financial records, membership and staff records, meeting agendas and minutes, printed materials, etc.

This collection includes a scrapbook of clippings (1906-1954) kept by Charlotte Pearl Murphy Wright, the wife of Robert Herring Wright who was the first president of East Carolina University (known then as East Carolina Teachers Training School and later East Carolina Teachers College) in Greenville, North Carolina. Also included are correspondence, announcements related to family affairs, photographs, and genealogy notes (also a few deeds, and bills of sale for enslaved persons) related to the Murphy, and Wright families of Sampson County, N.C., and the Cromartie and Alderman families.

Collection (2000-2006) of brochures, maps, postcards, printed materials, photographic prints; Poster of "North Carolina's Oldest Town"; correspondence, clippings, programs, ephemera, brochures pamphlets, periodicals, etc.; & "Colonial Bath: A History," 2005 by Alan D. Watson, Mss typescript; pertaining to the 300th anniversary celebration of Bath, North Carolina and related subjects.

Papers of Andre Dubus (1967-1984, undated) documenting the literary career of the noted Lake Charles, Louisiana-born American novelist and essayist, consisting mainly of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection including correspondence, photographic prints, notes, advertising postcards, dust jackets, broadsides, and clippings of reviews, by or about Andre Dubus, Richard Ghormley Eberhart, and others; also a corrected page proof of his short story Land Where My Fathers Died (1984).

This collection contains material (1818-1976) belonging to Emily Louise Loftin (May 10, 1898-December 20, 1985) of Carteret County, North Carolina. She was an educator, librarian, and historian. Included are correspondence, land records, legal records, receipts, wills, and estate records related to the Laughinghouse and Pugh families of Pitt County, N.C., the related Bright and Loftin families of Lenoir County, N.C., and the Pipkin family of Wayne County, N.C. This material was transferred from the Emily Loftin Collection at the History Museum of Carteret County, N.C. Material related to Carteret County remains at the History Museum of Carteret County.
