Collection (1802-1863) of a New York family including correspondence from England,
Papers (ca. 1923-1978, undated [bulk: 1955-1975]) of a prominent Greenville, North Carolina attorney and Democratic Party activist, who served as administrative assistant to U. S. Senator Samuel J. Ervin, Jr., 1955-1975, notably during the Watergate Scandal, and including personal, social, business and political files, photographic prints, and oversized materials relating to his life in Washington, DC, and North Carolina. Also contains information related to the life of his wife Marie Hardee Spain, a Greenville, North Carolina, native.
The papers consist mainly of matriculation cards, document certifying receipt of Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and patient account book.
Collection includes two folders of 48 items primarily of correspondence, letters and financial documents for a transport business that shipped commodities by riverboat.

This collection contains nine cased daguerreotypes and ambrotypes (and one ambrotype missing the case) of images that come from the White family of White's Mill and then later nearby Spartanburg, South Carolina. Images are probably from the 1850s and 1860s and include individual images of young boys, young girls, a woman, two images of the same woman, and an enslaved or formerly enslaved African American woman holding a white baby. The images were found among the effects of John Hamlin "Hamp" White (deceased November 23, 1949), son of Alexander Lawrence White (1860-1942). Hamp White was married to Mary Erwin, the aunt of the donor.
This collection consists of materials (1911-1991) related to Judge Walter L. Small of Elizabeth City, N.C., and his family, especially his sons Admiral Walter L. Small, Jr., Judge J. Herbert White Small, and Charles Buxton Small plus relatives in the White family. Included are photograph albums; scrapbooks relating to local, state, and national events and to WWII; a memory and fellowship book kept by Elizabeth Peele White while attending St. Mary's School (1911-1913); ledgers including one (1919-1937) kept by Elizabeth City dentist Dr. John Herbert White; and certificates.
