Records of Lillabulero Press, Limited (1932-1983 [Bulk: 1966-1974], undated) documenting the history of Lillabulero Press, Limited, a small literary press, in Chapel Hill, NC and later in Northwood Narrows, NH, founded, edited and published by Russell Banks (1940-) and William Matthews (1942-1997); consisting of typescripts and correspondence, and proofs of submitted manuscripts and research materials, relating to Lillabulero Press, Limited, and its various publications, including Lillabulero Magazine, Issues Nos. 1 – 14 (1966-1984); Lillabulero Poetry Pamphlet Series, Nos. 6-17 (1969-1973); Lillabulero Prose Pamphlet Series No. 1 (1973); Lillabulero Portfolio / 1967; and oversized archival folders containing proofs of published materials (1967-1973).

Correspondence (1894-1966, bulk 1931-1946) between Irving Sherwood Preston and his fiancée (later his wife) Alice Ann Moore of Concord, North Carolina. Preston and Moore married on June 9, 1933. During the bulk of this correspondence, Preston was attending Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Georgia (1931-1933) and serving (1943-1945) in the military during World War II. Also included are letters from family, friends, and associates, especially the earlier letters. Letters written by Preston to his family prior to 1933 document his life at Mount Pleasant Military Collegiate Institute at Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. Other early letters are between Preston's parents (Sherwood Craig Preston and Ida Lillian MacKelvie) prior to their marriage. There are a few photographs and negatives and some ephemera such as a theater broadsheet for "The College Flapper" being produced at the Kannapolis HIgh School Building in Kannapolis, North Carolina, and sponsored by the Kannapolis Woman's Club.

Papers (1768 [1868]-1913) including correspondence, accounts, receipts, bills of lading, daybooks, ledgers, land surveys, pamphlets, photographs, newspapers, and miscellany.

The collection contains papers related to Dr. Mabe's personal medical practice, personal papers, product advertisements, and journal.

Papers of John Montague (1978) documenting the life and literary career of the Brooklyn, New York-born, Irish-raised poet; consisting of the photocopy typescript of a poem entitled The Great Cloak; transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, 12/1/2014.

Diary (1944-1946) including detail activities, description of radio broadcast, propaganda pertaining to American casualties, views of World War II.

Records (1888-1981) including correspondence, minutes, treasurer's records, membership rolls, records of state conventions, a scrapbook, clippings, photographs, etc.

Papers (1795, 1827, 1856-1956) including correspondence, financial papers, copies, genealogical notes, a will, a salutatory address, brief essay, Civil War events, etc.

Records (May 1940-November 1945) include mainly correspondence between Thomas William Linder of Raleigh, North Carolina, and his girlfriend (later wife) Evelyn Doris Hill of Cayce, South Carolina. Mr. Linder worked for the railroad and later in life was an engineer with Amtrak. The letters from April 1942 through August 1945 document his service in the U.S. Army with the 816th Engineer Aviation Battalion during World War II. He was promoted to corporal in September 1942. Other items include two photographs, holiday cards, a pay stub and a poem.

Photograph Album and other files (ca. 1950 - 2004) relating to historic houses in Chowan, Perquimans, Bertie, Gates, and Washington counties in the Albemarle region of North Carolina, including photographic prints, postcard, floor plan sketches, maps, and correspondence.

Papers (1792-1969) including correspondence, financial papers,a diary, a cipher book, newspaper clipping, and a family history references to school, comments on Democratic Party, genealogical material, etc., related to the Sills family residing at Belford Plantation in Nash County, North Carolina.
