The collection also touches on the lives of her friends, classmates, colleagues, and students and includes materials concerning the McDaniel, Harvey, Linton and related families of Kinston and Eastern North Carolina.

Isabel Sue Nelson was born on January 30, 1914 in Littleton, North Carolina. She worked in Washington, North Carolina and the Office of Warren County, North Carolina Clerk of the Court.
