The Special Collections teaching collection consists of sources used for archival classroom instruction. Material within the collection was identified as out of scope for our regular collections, yet still useful as a primary or secondary source in our teaching sessions.

Also documented are her involvement in the Methodist Protestant (United Methodist Church after 1939),the Hardrawee Home Demonstration Club, the Halifax Co. Home Demonstration Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Halifax County Historical Association, Northeastern North Carolina Branch of the English-Speaking Union, Frank M. Eliza Arnold Hopkins Poe Collection was born in 1787 in London. She was an actor and mother of American Poet Edgar Allen Poe. The collection is a photographic print of a miniature portrait of Elizabeth Arnold Hopkins Poe dated circa 1811.
This collection contains draft articles written by James Batten for In Restrospect, a history of the namesakes of the buildings on ECU's campus, as well as a published version of In Retrospect.

Circa 1900 cabinet photograph and circa 1870 carte de visite of Millie and Christine McCoy, Black conjoined twins enslaved, in Columbus County, North Carolina (1851-1912). Cabinet photograph was taken by Frank Wendt, Boonton, New Jersey, and is autographed on verso "Millie-Christine". Also included is a signed autographed letter and two locks of hair said to belong to Millie and Christine McCoy.
