Morgan, who was Attorney General of North Carolina and U. S. Senator, 1970-1980.

Papers (1918-2005) relating to Greenville and Enfield, North Carolina boy scout leader including his World War I Diary recounting his service in the 14th Company, 4th Training Battalion, Depot Brigade and the 218th Ambulance Company in the American Expeditionary Force in France, 1918-1919, camp schedule, list of letters received and answered, addresses of French women, debts, English - French phrase, movements, places visited, and observations on daily military activities; memorials after his death; biographical sketches and clippings; letters and clippings describing him; and photographic prints of him in his World War I uniform. In English and French language.

Frank H. Price, Jr., a graduate in the USNA Class of 1941, had a naval career including service in World War II through postwar work with developing conventional warheads for Navy guided missiles and commanding several ships and a Destroyer Division, culminating in promotion to vice admiral in 1972 and retirement in 1975. His papers cover his entire naval career and include correspondence, orders, a memoir, clippings, photographs, programs, publications and a photograph album.

Papers (1938-1994) of Captain James P. Lynch (USN ret.) a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1941, including correspondence, programs and leaflets (1938-67); clippings (1944-94); printed forms (1940-75); and photographic prints (1943-68).

This pocket diary was kept by Union soldier James F. Shapleigh of 43rd Massachusetts Volunteers, Co. D, from January 1, 1863, through July 20, 1863. He was mustered out at the end of July 1863. During this period the 43rd Massachusetts Volunteers served in North Carolina with the 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 18th Army Corps. Camp Rogers in New Bern, was home base. Included in the diary are good details related to the Battle of Washington, North Carolina, that covers March 30 to April 19, 1863, as well as everyday life for soldiers. Later scattered entries in the diary go through January 1864.

Papers (1914-1988, undated) of David Balcombe, an enlisted man in the 1st Battalion, 4th Queen's West Surrey Territorial Regiment (Reserve) in India during World War I, 1914-1917; he later served as an instrument mechanic in India and Egypt in the Royal Flying Corps, 1917-1918. Consists primarily of correspondence (1914-1919) from David Balcombe to his parents in South Norwood, Surrey, England, plus clippings, ephemera, and photographs of India. Also included are letters (1928-1935) from Walter George Courtice to his sister Ruby R. Courtice, during his residency in Durban, South Africa.

The collection includes scrapbooks, correspondence, program schedules, minutes, newsletters, handbooks, awards and certificates, and a gavel.

Log book (December 1, 1851 through November 25, 1853) of the U.S. Brig Annandale of Camden, Maine, kept by first mate (and later captain) S. Pendleton of Isleboro, Maine, during 29 voyages along the east coast of the United States. Information is given on courses, winds, leeway, remarks, latitude, etc., during the voyages, as well as relative information collected when the brig is in harbor between voyages.

Papers of Walter Sullivan (1987-1989) documenting the life and career of the Nashville, Tennessee-born American novelist, literary critic, and English professor at Vanderbilt University; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection volume entitled A Requiem for the Renascence: The State of Fiction in the Modern South, by Walter Sullivan (1976); including Sullivan's letters to Stuart Wright regarding his book collection, 1987-1989.

This collection consists of materials and documents (1918-1986) pertaining to the lives and military service of Macon Jasper "Jack" Moye, Sr. and his son, Macon Jasper "Jack" Moye, Jr. Most of the collection pertains to Macon J. Moye, Jr.'s military career (1937-1968), as well as his personal life and teaching career. Macon J. Moye, Jr.'s materials include official documents and correspondence from his career in the U.S. Army, personal correspondence with his wife, photographs, clippings, ephemera, and books and other published material relating to his career and life. Macon J. Moye, Sr.'s materials (1918-1966) consist of official documents, manuals, and correspondence from his service during WWI. His materials also include personal items, like contracts pertaining to his tobacco warehouse and clippings about his life and family.

Papers (1805-1968; bulk 1860-1916) consisting of correspondence of a political nature, family-related correspondence, speeches, financial papers, farm records, farm account books, clippings, photographs, a diary and printed material related to Elias Carr and other members of the Carr and related families. Elias Carr (1839-1900) of Edgecombe County, a member of the Democratic Party, was the governor of North Carolina (1893-1897) and president of the N.C. State Farmers' Alliance and Industrial Union (1889-1892).

This collection (2007-2010) is related to Patricia "Pat" Dunn's campaign for Mayor of Greenville, North Carolina, in 2007 and her first mayoral term in 2008 to 2010. Found here are her petition as an East Carolina University faculty member to obtain permission from ECU to run for political office, congratulatory letters and emails, photographs, certificates, the installation program, posters, highlights of her first term, and newspaper clippings.
