Papers (1941-1945) of U.S. Naval officer, USNA Class of 1941, including an autobiographical account, a letter describing experiences aboard the USS West Virginia during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a letter explaining terms used in letters to avoid censorship, several speeches to civic organizations on his experiences during World War II and his relationsip with Admiral Hyman George Rickover.

Photograph album compiled by Ethel May Burt (ca. 1900) consisting primarily of photographic prints documenting Edenton, Chowan County, N.C., but also including views of various towns including Belhaven and Louisburg, N.C., and Claremont, Corbin Point, James River, and Portsmouth, Va., focusing on street scenes. Also includes also photos of families and friends; White and African American residents; the sitting rooms of Mrs. C. B. Elliott and Mrs. R. L. This collection contains material (1818-1976) belonging to Emily Louise Loftin (May 10, 1898-December 20, 1985) of Carteret County, North Carolina. She was an educator, librarian, and historian. Included are correspondence, land records, legal records, receipts, wills, and estate records related to the Laughinghouse and Pugh families of Pitt County, N.C., the related Bright and Loftin families of Lenoir County, N.C., and the Pipkin family of Wayne County, N.C. This material was transferred from the Emily Loftin Collection at the History Museum of Carteret County, N.C. Material related to Carteret County remains at the History Museum of Carteret County.

Papers (1918-2005) relating to Greenville and Enfield, North Carolina boy scout leader including his World War I Diary recounting his service in the 14th Company, 4th Training Battalion, Depot Brigade and the 218th Ambulance Company in the American Expeditionary Force in France, 1918-1919, camp schedule, list of letters received and answered, addresses of French women, debts, English - French phrase, movements, places visited, and observations on daily military activities; memorials after his death; biographical sketches and clippings; letters and clippings describing him; and photographic prints of him in his World War I uniform. Collection (1932-1975) of correspondence, clippings, and yearbooks compiled by Harriett Roseveare and Carolyn James, who served as club officers, relating to club membership and activities in support of World War I and II, including sale of war bonds, United Nations Day, home economics education, Green Springs Park, Parent - Teacher Associations, nursery schools and night schools, social events and scholarships for teenagers, Community Fine Arts Festival, Pitt General Hospital, Pitt County Fair, and other activities.

This pocket diary was kept by Union soldier James F. Shapleigh of 43rd Massachusetts Volunteers, Co. D, from January 1, 1863, through July 20, 1863. He was mustered out at the end of July 1863. During this period the 43rd Massachusetts Volunteers served in North Carolina with the 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 18th Army Corps. Camp Rogers in New Bern, was home base. Included in the diary are good details related to the Battle of Washington, North Carolina, that covers March 30 to April 19, 1863, as well as everyday life for soldiers. Later scattered entries in the diary go through January 1864.

Papers (1914-1988, undated) of David Balcombe, an enlisted man in the 1st Battalion, 4th Queen's West Surrey Territorial Regiment (Reserve) in India during World War I, 1914-1917; he later served as an instrument mechanic in India and Egypt in the Royal Flying Corps, 1917-1918. Consists primarily of correspondence (1914-1919) from David Balcombe to his parents in South Norwood, Surrey, England, plus clippings, ephemera, and photographs of India. Also included are letters (1928-1935) from Walter George Courtice to his sister Ruby R. Courtice, during his residency in Durban, South Africa.

Frank H. Price, Jr., a graduate in the USNA Class of 1941, had a naval career including service in World War II through postwar work with developing conventional warheads for Navy guided missiles and commanding several ships and a Destroyer Division, culminating in promotion to vice admiral in 1972 and retirement in 1975. His papers cover his entire naval career and include correspondence, orders, a memoir, clippings, photographs, programs, publications and a photograph album.

This collection consists of materials and documents (1918-1986) pertaining to the lives and military service of Macon Jasper "Jack" Moye, Sr. and his son, Macon Jasper "Jack" Moye, Jr. Most of the collection pertains to Macon J. Moye, Jr.'s military career (1937-1968), as well as his personal life and teaching career. Macon J. Moye, Jr.'s materials include official documents and correspondence from his career in the U.S. Army, personal correspondence with his wife, photographs, clippings, ephemera, and books and other published material relating to his career and life. Macon J. Moye, Sr.'s materials (1918-1966) consist of official documents, manuals, and correspondence from his service during WWI. His materials also include personal items, like contracts pertaining to his tobacco warehouse and clippings about his life and family.
