This collection includes the records (1937-2016) of the Inter Se Book Club of Greenville, North Carolina, from its founding. Included are minutes, programs, correspondence, yearbooks, clippings, and other materials.

Papers (1944-1945) including correspondence, incoming and outgoing intelligence logbooks, financial reports, orders and a travel account and miscellany.

Papers concerning his community service work in the Greenville, Sheltered Workshop, Red Cross, Heart Association, United Fund, Art Museum and other community activities accumulated during his employment in the East Carolina University student stores, 1/1/1968 - 7/30/1987.

Papers (1908 – 1986, undated [bulk: 1964 – 1986]) of John Porter East, including biographical, genealogical, and historical materials relating to his life (b. 5 May 1931 – 29 June 1986) ; his marriage to Priscilla Sherk East and their children; his service as an officer in the U. S. Marine Corps; his battle against poliomyelitis and the paralysis it caused; his graduate studies in political science and as a professor of Political Science at East Carolina University, 1964 – 1980, including his teaching files for each of his classes, his academic and professional publications, speeches, interviews; and also his conservative Republican political beliefs and affiliations and political career, including his several unsuccessful attempts to win political office in North Carolina, 1966 – 1976, culminating in his successful campaign for and election to the United States Senate in 1980; but the bulk of the collection focuses on his service in the Senate, where he was aligned with Senator Jesse Helms (R-NC) and a member of Helms' political organization, the Congressional Club; including his mailing lists, correspondence and constituent cases and projects files; his office and staff files, including files of this administrative assistants, press secretaries and legislative assistants; his political patronage and nomination files, committee and legislative activities; his voting records, newsletters, voluminous clipping files, press and public relations files, including publications, audio and video of interviews, speeches, and political events; his frequent bouts of ill health due to poliomyelitis, hyperthyroidism, urinary tract blockages, and depression, and their side effects which may have contributed to his death by suicide; also including photographic prints and negatives, microfilm of committee records, correspondence, case and general files, voter registration files; and also oversized materials, 1981 – 1986, undated.

Collection (ca. 1941—1959) of correspondence, manuscripts, printed forms, and printed works relating to the Sanderson family of Kinston, North Carolina, and the military service of Cpl. Claude Sanderson Jr. in Co. H, 129th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division, and Pfc. James Earl Sanderson in Battery A, 449th Field Artillery Observation Battalion and Co. B, 1st Brigade, 119th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division.

Included are a copy of the Daniels-Murphrey Family History compiled and edited by Eleanor Daniels Casey in 1993, a photograph of the USS Nebraska that Benjamin Daniels of Wayne County, North Carolina, sailed to Europe on in WWI, and three photographs of Benjamin Daniels in his WWI US Navy uniform.

Collection (1899-1957 [Bulk: 1899-1954]) of diaries by Rev. J.G. Cassel, a Brethren of Christ missionary in Guatemala, 1899-1957; also an untitled history of missionary work in Guatemala by William Haymaker, written in 1947, describing his missionary career, 1887-1947. 8 vols. Photocopy holograph & Carbon typescript.

The 2nd Field Artillery of the New York National Guard was called to the border with Mexico in 1916 as part of the Expedition to catch Pancho Villa. This panoramic photograph is of the unit while stationed at McAllen, Texas, and it was owned by Christopher Ballentine Fisher of Brooklyn, New York. He later fought in World War I.

This collection (1961-1999) contains reports, publication issues, newsletter issues, memos, statements, press releases, and a policy guide received by Carroll Webber during his time as a member and as president of the Pitt/Greenville Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina. Also included are the first four issues of the ACLU "Stand" Magazine (2014-2015).

Transcript of the partial autobiography of Curtis Dula Hawkins (1914-1984) created from audiocassette recordings. Hawkins details his early life, the history of McDowell County, North Carolina, the history of the Hawkins and Dula families.

Papers of the Bettencourt Family of Wilmington, North Carolina, 1833–1965 [Bulk: 1833–1888], relate to personal, financial, and genealogical matters of the family and the related Hawes–Newkirk–Nieuwkirk families of Hanover County, North Carolina.

Records (1899-2006, undated) of Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia shipbuilding company, including engineering drawings, blueprints, photographs, and negatives, correspondence, contracts, reports, personnel files. Production files, etc.

This collection contains 38 items that pertains to the life and career of Edward E. Johnson, who served as assistant to the Reverend Horace James, Superintendent of Negro Affairs in North Carolina, following the Civil War.
