The collection consists of a letter (1/8/1863) containing a description of Brig. Gen. John G. Foster's expedition from New Bern to Kinston and Goldsboro NC and back, 11-20 December 1862, including accounts of engagements at Kinston (14 Dec.), Whitehall (16 Dec.) and Goldsboro Bridge (17 Dec.), from George [?], a soldier in Company B of the 5th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, to his Aunt Maria. Other items include a draft report (12/22/1862) by Colonel Charles R. Codman, 45th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Cadet Regiment), of engagements at Kinston and White Hall, NC, (12/14 through 12/16/1862), and items related to Colonel Codman.

Papers of George Garrett (1930-2009 [Bulk: 1960-2009], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Orlando, Florida-born American poet and novelist, consisting of audio recordings, correspondence, manuscripts of poems by, about, or relating to George Garrett, Madison Smartt Bell, Carolyn Chute, Larry McMurtry, Ned O'Gorman, Henry S. Taylor & others; also including notes, oversized materials, photographic prints, printed forms, proofs of published works, loose manuscript materials transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, & printed materials; in English & French language.

Papers of John Ciardi (1820-1991 [Bulk: 1947-1991], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Boston, Massachusetts-born American poet, translator, etymologist, and editor, consisting of correspondence, manuscript materials, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, proofs of published works, audio recordings, and printed materials, by or about John Ciardi, Elio Vittorini, Harry Crews, George Braziller, and others; in English, Italian & Latin language.

Papers (1978-2014) of Inez Fridley, Greenville City Council Member, Mayor Pro-Term, and advocate for preserving nature in the urban environment. Includes files reflecting her concern for planning and zoning, as a founding member of Tar River Neighborhood Association (TRNA), a member of Tar River/University Neighborhood Association (TRUNA), and as a member of the Rotary Club.

Collection contains scrapbooks, trophies, and certificates that document life in Belk Residence Hall on the campus of East Carolina University.

Papers (1940-1970) of Veterans Service Director, American Legion Commander, and Craven County representative in NC General assembly (1965,1967,1969), including correspondence, legislative files, reports and miscellaneous materials.

Papers (1865-2013, bulk 1919-1982) relating to Georgia Pearsall Hearne, an artist, musician, and teacher, whose portraits of prominent North Carolinians earned her state-wide recognition, including consisting of correspondence, daybooks, photographs, original artwork, reproductions of art work, newspaper clippings, printed forms, printed materials, genealogical materials, and miscellany.

Letters and ephemera (1926-1929) related to the life of Agnes Wadlington [Barrett], who was born in Trigg County, Kentucky in 1902, before she took a job at East Carolina Teachers College (now East Carolina University) as secretary to the president of the college. Also found with these papers are many photographs of members of the Putnam family of Murray, Kentucky. The only connection between Mrs. Barrett and the Putnam family appears to be that both she and Louise Vey Putnam Carter's husband Herbert Leland Carter both worked at East Carolina University. An 1982 engagement calendar kept by Mrs. Barrett documents her life during retirement in Greenville, North Carolina.

Papers (1872-1987) consisting of letters, biographical notes, scrapbook, certificates, insurance policies, booklets, bulletins, journals, sermons, etc. of Dr. Neil Graham Bethea (1872-1957), a Methodist Protestant evangelist and minister in North Carolina.

Collection consists of material related to the history of the Lynndale Garden Club of Greenville, North Carolina, from its founding in 1974 to 2016. Included are meeting minutes, executive board minutes, newsletters, photographs, clippings, yearbooks, brochures, membership rosters, treasurer reports, constitutions and by-laws, and engagement calendar books put out by the Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc., which contain photographs of winning arrangements by garden club members (including members of Lynndale Garden Club).
