This collection (c. 1880-2001) contains the papers of three generations of U.S. Navy officers whose service covered the years 1891 through 1963. Correspondence, orders, reports, photographs, certificates, publications, a diary, ships histories, clippings and reminiscences document their careers and that of Waldron McLellon's uncle who served in the U.S. Navy from 1934 through 1952. Waldron M. McLellon graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1941 and copious material relates to the lives of the USNA Class of 1941 members through 2001. Other papers concern the genealogy of Waldron McLellon's family.

The Phoenix Historical Society: African American History of Edgecombe County was founded in 2001 to recover, record, and promote the unique history of Edgecombe County (North Carolina) as experienced by members of its African American community. Collection (1899-2010, undated) of manuscripts, clippings and printed materials, etc. relating to Mamie Ella Pittman Hardee, 1880-1962, who taught in the Enfield and Whitakers, N.C., public schools, 1901-1925, and to the Hardee, Pittman and related families of Enfield, Halifax County, North Carolina.
The collection is comprised of papers from Dr. I. Henderson Lutterloh and his son Dr. I. Hayden Lutterloh. It includes correspondence, licenses and receipts from Lutterloh Clinic and Drugstore, medical informational booklets, and handwritten notes from Hayden's education at Jefferson Medical College. Also included is a book based on Hayden's recollections of medicine in Sanford beginning with his father.

A journal (1/19 – 6/29/1859) written by Augustus M. Handley, a young British Army officer in the 19th Regiment of Foot, of a voyage from Gravesend, England, to Calcutta, India, aboard the sailing ship H.M.S. Bucton Castle with Captain Moorsom commanding. The journal contains a detailed description of daily life aboard the Bucton Castle, including various personalities on board, daily activities, an explanation of the ship's time-keeping, a drawing of the ship with parts labeled, notes on the how-to of navigation, changing weather conditions, sea conditions, and meetings with the various ships along the way.
