Material relating to the life of Clarence Stasavich before he came to East Carolina University in 1962 to be the head football coach (and later athletic director) and after his death in 1975. Included is correspondence (1942-1945) related to his time in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was an LST Commander in several theatres of war, items related to his time at Lenoir Rhyne College as a football coach prior to coming to East Carolina University, and clippings and documents related to his death in 1975, the subsequent memorial service, and scholarships created in his memory.

Papers (1862-1914) concern the life of Benjamin Holt Ticknor (1842-1914) of Boston, Massachusetts, after he enlisted in the 45th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteers, Co. G, in 1862 during the Civil War. Included are thirteen letters written to his father during the war with nine (November 1863-March 1864) of them written from Fort Totten in New Bern, N.C. Several documents relate to a court martial and trial he participated in; other documents relate to his postwar involvement in the Loyal Legion and genealogy research. Also included are photographs of his funeral procession. Transferred (not purchased) from Denning House Antiquarian Books & Manuscripts.

The William D. Bulloch Papers consists of flight documentation related to Bulloch's service as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. The collection includes his Aviators Flight Log Book and associated flight clothing records maintained while he held the rank of Ensign A-V (N) in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

Papers of Stuart Wright (1783-2020, [Bulk: 1945-2014], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Roxboro, North Carolina-born American educator, chiropodist, author, translator, bibliographer, editor, historian, publisher, musician and collector, vendor and donor of literary and musical manuscripts and published materials; consisting of correspondence, holograph and typescript manuscripts of published materials, clippings, loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection; also original art, audio recordings, proofs and advance review copies of published works, photographic materials and oversized materials; including materials in English, French, German, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Papers (1861 - 2025, undated) documenting the archaeological excavations of the Confederate defensive fortifications, river obstructions and fish trap on the River Neuse below Kinston, NC, and the Confederate ironclad ram CSS Neuse, relating to Capt. Joseph H. Price, commander of the CSS Neuse, and relating to Lenoir County, N.C., history in general including correspondence, notes, photographic prints and negatives (black and white), and publications.

Letter (May 12, 1909) written by G. P. Stevens, a missionary representing the Mecklenburg, North Carolina, Presbytery, in Suchien, China, describing his experiences in Suchien.

Frank H. Price, Jr., a graduate in the USNA Class of 1941, had a naval career including service in World War II through postwar work with developing conventional warheads for Navy guided missiles and commanding several ships and a Destroyer Division, culminating in promotion to vice admiral in 1972 and retirement in 1975. His papers cover his entire naval career and include correspondence, orders, a memoir, clippings, photographs, programs, publications and a photograph album.

Papers (1939-1943) include correspondence from a U.S. naval officer describing life on the minesweeper USS YMS-62 (1942-1943) during World War II while stationed in New Orleans and Burwood in Louisiana, at sea, and in Algeria. Lieutenant Commander Brown also records his impressions of Algeria in these letters.

The ship's log of the US Brig Porpoise, dated 19 February 1845 to 16 June 1846, was kept during a cruise from New York to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It details navigational statistics, weather reports, sightings and hailing of other ships, and punishments of crew infractions. The author was probably Midshipman Benjamin Lee Henderson and the log was signed in fifteen places by Lt. Commander William E. Hunt.

Papers of Erskine Caldwell (1932-1982), documenting the life and literary career of the noted Coweta County, Georgia-born, American novelist of the rural poor in the American South; consisting primarily of his correspondence with Robert Cantwell; also Paul C. Papers of Randall Jarrell (1913–1992 [Bulk: 1939-1966], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Nashville, Tennessee-born American poet, literary critic, children's author, essayist, novelist, and educator; including his childhood and education in Nashville, his education at Vanderbilt University, where he studied under Robert Penn Warren, Allen Tate, and John Crowe Ransom; his career of teaching English Literature at Kenyon College, University of Texas at Austin, Sarah Lawrence College, and the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina; his service, during World War II, in the U. S. Army Air Corps; his numerous awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, in 1947-1948, a grant from the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1951, the National Book Award in 1961, and as Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1956-1958; including correspondence, literary essays, lists and notes, original art, photographic prints and negatives, manuscript and printed poems, manuscript volumes, oversized materials, audio materials, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.
