Collection (1973–1989) of color slides documenting J. Y. Joyner Library at East Carolina University, in October 1973, prior to the construction of two extra floors and the addition of a new west wing to the building, for Library Science 1000 class; also photocopies of correspondence, historical research reports, and newspaper clippings about the Greenville Town Common Confederate flags controversy, in 1983–1989; also photocopies of newspaper clippings about the Confederate flag, 1983–1989. Collection also contains 4 photographs of individuals from the Collins-Becton family.

This collection (1791-1960) documents the horse and mule business, farm operations, land transactions, saw mill operation, and other business enterprises of Edward Cyrus Winslow (b. 1886) of Tarboro, Edgecombe County, N.C. Included in the collection are correspondence, financial and legal records such as account books, ledgers, bills and receipts, contracts with other mule dealers, promissory notes, agricultural liens and chattel mortgages, deeds, and lease and rental agreements. Also included are superior court records, blueprints of farm tracts and dairy equipment, printed material, business and family photographs, and a small quantity of family correspondence.

Walker, 1864; General Store sales records of Nicholas Bascom Jenkins from Nashville, Nash County, North Carolina, 1905-1935; genealogical materials relating to the Letcher, Mitchell, Neisler [Neischler], Jenkins, and Howard families of Nash county, North Carolina; Taylor, Georgia; and Salem, Massachusetts), 1897; also letters and obituary and newspaper articles, including an excerpt from Western Maryland College yearbook relating to on George Stockton Wills, of Westminster, Maryland, 1930-1956; in English, Greek and Latin language.

This collection is the account book for Dr. Robert H. Wyche between 1865 and 1869.

This collection consists of three diaries (1915-1917) written by John Ambrose Chalk documenting daily weather, agricultural activities, and interesting social events in Chowan County, North Carolina. He and his family were living on Mulberry Hill Farm while he managed the farm for Mr. Henry Wood of Edenton, N.C. Also included are transcriptions of the diaries provided by the donor along with family information, and indices to places mentioned and interesting events.

Papers (1830-2011, undated [bulk 1830-1973]) relating to the Young – Spicer family of Fredericks Hall, Louisa County, Virginia and related families living in Virginia, Mississippi and Louisiana, including correspondence relating to the civil war, businesses, taxes & family matters; journals, photographic prints; genealogical and historical files and a listing of the gravestones in the Young-Spicer Cemetery at the family home, "Locust Grove" at Fredericks Hall, Virginia. Papers of Lewis W. Green (1945-1984 [Bulk: 1984]) documenting the life and literary career of the Haywood County, North Carolina-born, journalist at the Asheville, novelist, newspaper publisher, and educator; consisting of manuscript materials relating to his novel The Silence of the Snakes (1984) which, like many of Green's stories concerned mountain people and was set in the 1930s; a biographical sketch of Green; and sheet music for the song David (Frances Frost) (1945).

Papers (1743 – 1985) of the descendants of Martin Whitford and Nancy Purifoi (Purifoy) Whitford, of Craven County NC, including David Purifoi Whitford, Susan Cox, Addison Purifoi Whitford, Pamela Toler and Edna Whitford Fisher, and consisting of land, legal and business records, genealogical charts and a family history, a photographic print, and the constitutions of the Mt. Lebanon Church and the Broad St. Church & Secondary School 100 Per Cent Loyalty and Service Club.

Peace and Samuel Peace, and Matt Hankins, relating to Trinity College, North Carolina, Civil War battles at Washington, NC, Rappahannock Bridge, and Kelly's Ford, VA, including of copies, a memoir, clippings, genealogical notes, financial account, Bible records, amateur verse, contract, account of medical services.

The Vertical File Collection contains individual items that don't fit into existing collections. There is no overall theme or subject connecting them. Items included vary from photographs, broadsides, pamphlets, advertising materials, programs, negatives, and postcards to land grants, genealogy notes, and a music transcription book. Inclusive dates are 1792-2016.
