Porter's notebook (Pensacola, Fla., 1860), blueprint, photocopies of blueprints, newspaper clippings and photographic print, relating to U.S. Navy ship construction and C.S. ship construction, including drawings of CSS Virginia (USS Merrimac) and other ships; Porter family genealogy, ca. 1860-1936.

Papers of William Faulkner (1948-1990) documenting the life and literary career of the noted New Albany, Mississippi-born American novelist and short story writer who won the 1949 Nobel Prize for literature; consisting of loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including a letter enclosing a printed copy of Faulkner's Nobel Prize acceptance speech and letters from Faulkner's biographer, Joseph Blotner; also a carbon typescript manuscript (ca. 1948) of a Faulkner short story entitled A Courtship.

The William Cobb Whitfield Papers consists of a class notebook, ephemera found in books belonging to Whitfield, and various other papers ranging from 1873 to 1936. Additionally, notes from a conversation between Miles J. Smith, donor of collection and great-nephew of Whitfield, and Ruth Moskop, from History Collections at Laupus Library.
