La Caroline dans l'Amerique Septentrionale Suivant les Cartes Angloises drawn by Nicolas Bellin of Paris in 1764. This map is hand-colored and measures 14" x 9". Covering the area that is now North Carolina, South Carolina and the northern part of Georgia, this map was issued in Bellin's La Petit Atlas Maritime.

Collection (1898, 1908-2009) consists of research materials related to the history of Edenton and the Albemarle-Chowan region of North Carolina. Elizabeth Vann Moore (1912-2010) of Edenton spent her life researching local and family history topics. Her notebooks and correspondence reflect her involvement in writing Historic Edenton Guidebooks, the 300 year history of St. Paul's Parish in Edenton, a North Carolina Historical Review article on John Mare, and extensive information about the Edenton Tea Party, as well as work with the Edenton Historical Commission and the North Caroliniana Society. Also included are personal items such as her poetry, diplomas, plaques, and DVDs of interviews with Miss Moore done in 2007 by Martha Daniels.

Correspondence, financial records, and speeches (1876, 1913-1932) related to Hugh Gwyn Chatham of Chatham Manufacturing Company (textile company) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was president of the company from 1907 to 1929.

Transcript of the partial autobiography of Curtis Dula Hawkins (1914-1984) created from audiocassette recordings. Hawkins details his early life, the history of McDowell County, North Carolina, the history of the Hawkins and Dula families.

Yvonne Cobourn speaks about her time as a student at East Carolina University in the late 1970s, including her classes and her on and off-campus jobs including working with Dr. Steven Riggs. She discusses her life in Greenville, North Carolina including local restaurants and attending musical performances at the Attic nightclub.

The collection includes correspondence, printed materials, photographs, grade reports, teaching certificates and testimonials, legal documents and newspaper clippings which document the life (1891-1975) of Lenoir County, North Carolina, school teacher Julia Catherine McDaniel including her education at Hollins Institute in Virginia and her teaching career (1912-1960) in Burlington, Bethel, and Lenoir County, N.C., schools. The collection also touches on the lives of her friends, classmates, colleagues, and students and includes materials concerning the McDaniel, Harvey, Linton and related families of Kinston and Eastern North Carolina.

This ledger (1873-1874) chronicles the stock sold at a Goldsboro, North Carolina, store including, among other items, turpentine, staves, hoops, chicks, postage, timber, and bbls (barrels), and also mentions labor, hauling, and "stilling."
