Collection (1898, 1908-2009) consists of research materials related to the history of Edenton and the Albemarle-Chowan region of North Carolina. Elizabeth Vann Moore (1912-2010) of Edenton spent her life researching local and family history topics. Her notebooks and correspondence reflect her involvement in writing Historic Edenton Guidebooks, the 300 year history of St. Paul's Parish in Edenton, a North Carolina Historical Review article on John Mare, and extensive information about the Edenton Tea Party, as well as work with the Edenton Historical Commission and the North Caroliniana Society. Also included are personal items such as her poetry, diplomas, plaques, and DVDs of interviews with Miss Moore done in 2007 by Martha Daniels.

Papers of Edmund J. Lilly, Jr.(1894-1978) a U. S. Army artillery officer in World War I and World War II, who served as commander of the 57th Philippine Scouts and regimental commander, experienced the Bataan Death March and was a POW until 1945. The collection does not include the originals, but facsimiles of Lilly's military records, correspondence, clippings, a hymnal, letters, and photographs.

Collection (ca. 1973) of photographic prints (color), pertaining to Camp Leach, a summer camp operated by the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina on the Pamlico River, near Bath, North Carolina.

Papers (1944–1945) of Lieutenant Commander Louis F. Loutrel Jr. including ship's histories, war diary (27 September–4 October 1945), roster, and clippings concerning the USS Williams (DE-372).

Papers (1933-1988, undated) documenting the life and literary career of Katherine Anne Porter (1890-1980), the noted Indian Creek, Texas-born American short story writer and novelist, including correspondence; also original art, photographic prints, printed material and loose manuscripts transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection pertaining to Robert Penn Warren, Robert Lowell, Richard Ghormley Eberhart, William H. Littlefield, and others.

Papers (1928-1979) including correspondence, memorandums, classified and unclassified documents, military records, reports, poems, photographs, yearbooks, news articles, maps, regulations, and miscellaneous.

Included is genealogy correspondence written to and from Al Jones accompanied by pedigrees, family group sheets, and family histories (most written by Al Jones). Material is filed alphabetically by correspondents' last names. The main focus is the Jones family of Blount's Creek, Beaufort County, North Carolina, and related family lines including, among others, Tuten, Cratch, Stilley, Roe/Row, Orrell, Galloway, Searles, Harding, and Purefoy, and Pridgen.

Collection (1943, 2001) consisting of a report entitled Profile of the Members of the B–1 U. S. Navy Band of World War II, 1942-2001, submitted by W. F. Carlson, Jr., B-1 Executive Treasurer and Calvin F. Morrow, B-1 Secretary of the U. S. Navy B-1 Band, the first all-African American Navy band during World War II, and a Servicemen's Map of the United States and Insignia of the Armed Forces, Published by Fred Harvey (Chicago, IL: Rand McNally and Company © [1943]) Folding map.

This collection spans W. Keats Sparrow's career at ECU, being comprised of materials from projects to which he contributed, in his roles as English professor, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, and president of Phi Kappa Phi.
