The Records of the Office of the Provost are comprised of administrative files, correspondence, lectures, and audiovisual media.
This collection (1821-2007) contains several groups of family history-related papers concerning eastern North Carolina and a large number of unrelated miscellaneous items such as photographs, church records, Bible records, and rare printed items on a variety of subjects. The majority of the family papers concern the Croom and Whitfield families of Lenoir County, N.C. Other family papers concern the Harvey family of Greene County, N.C., the Jordan and Waters families of Washington, N.C., the Meeks family of Pitt County, the Outlaw family of Lenoir County and the Thompson family of Georgia. A large part of this collection concerns the Ficklen family of Greenville, N.C., including scrapbooks, diaries, an autograph book and a post card collection. Some items concern the colorful poet, magazine editor, railroad speculator, paper mill owner, Civil War blockade-runner, and sea captain Appleton Oaksmith who lived in Carteret County, N.C., for fifteen years (1872-1887). Also included are ambrotype photographs of Confederate Civil War soldiers James Needham Alexander, who served in Company A, 11th North Carolina Troops (Infantry) and Stanhope Washington Alexander, who served in Company H, 35th North Carolina Regiment.
This collection (2007-2010) is related to Patricia "Pat" Dunn's campaign for Mayor of Greenville, North Carolina, in 2007 and her first mayoral term in 2008 to 2010. Found here are her petition as an East Carolina University faculty member to obtain permission from ECU to run for political office, congratulatory letters and emails, photographs, certificates, the installation program, posters, highlights of her first term, and newspaper clippings.
Material (1862-2017) including correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, narrative reminiscences, and a muster roll (1862) and other original documents related to Dr. William N. Still, Jr.'s career as a well-known and respected maritime historian and author. His research topics included shipbuilding in North Carolina, maritime history, and Naval history in the American Civil War through World War II.
Information and artifacts from the visits to Laupus Library by librarians from the Moldovan Scientific Medical Library in 2007 and by the Moldovan Minister of Health in 2008.
In this oral history interview Max Ray Joyner, Sr. discusses his involvment with East Carolina including his time as a student and his later work with The ECU Foundation, Alumni Association, Pirate Club, and Board of Trustees, serving on search committees, and endowing scholarships. He also mentions his wife's involvment with East Carolina.

Marine Corps aviation officer (Major Gen.) who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, and who retired as commander of the Cherry Point, NC Marine Air Station, including correspondence, reports, war diaries, citations, certificates, and military records. Papers (2006-2024) from the Tar River University Neighborhood Association (TRUNA) of Greenville, North Carolina. TRUNA was created in 1998 as a merger of two pre-existing neighborhood associations: The University Neighborhood Association (TUNA) and the Tar River Neighborhood Association (TRNA). Included are files of the president, minutes, correspondence, and files related to an initiative to save the neighborhood from planned ECU development by creating the East College Park Homeowners Association (later deemed unnecessary when ECU withdrew their plans related to expansion there). Some records of TUNA and TRNA activities are also included.
Papers (mostly 1911-1958) consisting of correspondence, clippings, newspapers and photographs related to [Eleazer] Van Ness Harwood, Jr.'s career as a newspaper reporter, especially with The World in New York City (1899-1925), and as a publicist for people such as Mme. Marie Curie, and to his family life. Major topics documented are the Wright Brothers' 1911 flights at Kitty Hawk, N.C., and a visit by Mme. Curie to the United States in 1929 to receive a gift of one gram of radium for use in scientific research.

Papers (1772, 1816-1927) including correspondence, legal papers, deeds and estate papers, financial papers, speeches, stories and poems, clippings, photographs, ledgers, medical bills, services rendered, charges and payments, etc.
Records (1888-1981) including correspondence, minutes, treasurer's records, membership rolls, records of state conventions, a scrapbook, clippings, photographs, etc.
Papers (1942-1972) of a U.S. Navy officer, including original memos, reports, newsletters, photographs, a certificate; and photocopies of war patrol reports and maps for the USS Flying Fish, during World War II.
