This collection contains documents (1821-1994, bulk 1860s-1910s) related to the Newsom family, especially Marion Eaton Newsom, of Littleton, Warren and Halifax Counties, North Carolina. Included are correspondence, land records, legal records, financial papers, and a family history written by Marion E. Newsom (1909, addendum 1911) about the Newsom and Nicholson families. Some material also relates to the Whitaker and Heptinstall families. A large part of this collection also documents the history of Littleton and institutions there such as schools, churches, and Littleton Female College.

Collection (1942 – 2019, undated) of documents, programs, notes, correspondence, interviews, and photographic prints documenting the history and membership of the U. S. Navy B-1 Band, the first All-African American band to serve in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Material includes historical and biographical sketches of the band and ites members, and photographs of the band, rosters, the music and lyrics, interviews, and documentation of race relations in North Carolina, the United States, and the United States military during the 20th century.

This collection (1791-1960) documents the horse and mule business, farm operations, land transactions, saw mill operation, and other business enterprises of Edward Cyrus Winslow (b. 1886) of Tarboro, Edgecombe County, N.C. Included in the collection are correspondence, financial and legal records such as account books, ledgers, bills and receipts, contracts with other mule dealers, promissory notes, agricultural liens and chattel mortgages, deeds, and lease and rental agreements. Also included are superior court records, blueprints of farm tracts and dairy equipment, printed material, business and family photographs, and a small quantity of family correspondence.

Papers of Mel Ellis (1967) documenting the life and literary career of the Waukesha, Wisconsin-born American novelist who specialized in Wisconsin regional outdoor topics; consisting of an unrevised, uncorrected, spiral bound, proof of his novel Run, Rainey, Run: The Stormy Story of a Dog(1967); the manuscript had formerly been titled Strange Love Affair: The Stormy Story of a Dog.

The Records of the Department of Laupus Health Science Library are comprised of administrative files which include annual reports, codes of operations, and other miscellaneous publications. This collection was transferred to the Laupus Library History Collections on August 29, 2017.

Includes written and typed correspondence related to North Carolina and Pennsylvania artist Francis Speight's paintings, especially "Winter Scene." Also included is a presentation given by Claiborne T. Smith about Francis Speight.

Papers include Goforth's correspondence with the Navy Department following World War II and photograph from time at Woodward-Herring Hospital.

The records of Earl Trevathan Papers are comprised of Greenville, North Carolina, materials relating to urban renewal, Greenville's housing problems, redevelopment, land utilization and marketability, and public education. Also included are articles and journals about Martin Luther King, Jr. and World War II.

Papers (1918, 1932, 1942-1969) of Episcopalian missionary from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to the Philippines including correspondence, financial records, affidavits, typescripts, newspapers, and miscellany. A lot of the documentation pertains to her time in the Los Banos Internment Camp during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II.

Records (1973-2015) of the North American Society for Oceanic History (NASOH) including correspondence, membership lists, annual conference materials, book awards, bibliographies, newsletters, treasurer's records, programs, and publications.

Rep. Howard Chapin Papers (1947-2000) primarily pertaining to his nine terms in the North Carolina General Assembly from Washington, NC, 1974-1992, including personal correspondence, clippings, materials relating to his service on committees, and artifacts he received relating to the bicentennials of Washington, NC and the United States, 1975-76.

This collection contains correspondence (1841-1937) received by members of the May family of Farmville, Pitt County, N.C., including letters written from Michigan and Tennessee; receipts, promissory notes, and judgments (1813-1910); financial documents (1820s-1920), and account books (1819-1830s). Other material includes grade reports and tuition receipts for Farmville Academy (1899-1900), Farmville Seminary (1887-1888), and Farmville High School (1891, 1900); deeds and other land records (1760-1891), some of which refer to the Flake and Shivers families in Pitt County; a list Black enslaved men, women, and children that includes their birthdates (1830s-1850s) and their mothers' names; catalogs for Trenton High School (1897), St. Mary's School in Raleigh (1842), and Trinity School in Chocowinity (1907/1908); and a 1900 reward poster for the man who robbed R. L. Davis & Brothers of Farmville. Miscellaneous publications include among others The Primitive Baptist (1853-1860, 1870-1872), almanacs, telephone directories (1934 Greenville, 1930 Farmville), a 1919 Chicago war camp community service publication, and The Southern Women of the Second American Revolution . . . by H. W. R. [Jackson, 1863].
