Papers (1885-2009) of prominent Washington, NC, attorney Junius Daniel Grimes, who was member of the firm Ward and Grimes, and his family and business associates, including correspondence, legal records, land records, financial papers, publications, taxes, installments, bills, survey, map, etc.
Records (1938-1953) including correspondence, minutes of stockholders' and directors' meetings, and related documents.
Papers (1960-1984) of Democratic political leader and governor of North Carolina, including his 1976 campaign financial records and his 1980 gubernatorial general campaign files.
Collection includes 25 World War II era U.S. Ration Books issued to a Greene County, North Carolina, family and to a familly in Long Beach, California. Also included are a Fuel Oil Ration Book, 3 Mileage Ration Books and an A Gas Ration sticker. These ration books document the experience of necessities being rationed during the war, and the physical description and familial connections of the people to whom the ration books were issued. Also included are unused V Mail Stationery, and 12 pin-ups which could be mailed to U.S. soldiers during the war. An additional 18 images document an Army Day parade held in Gorizia, Italy, on April 6, 1946. This group consists primarily of photographic prints depicting military vehicles and personnel in procession, including scenes of an engineers wrecker truck, spectators lining the route of march, a two and one half ton truck transporting a tractor on a trailer, a Brockway truck, an M 24 tank of the 752d Tank Battalion, armored cars, a 105 mm howitzer with a detailed view of its recoilless mechanism, a 57 mm antitank gun, elements of the 105th Field Artillery, and the S P Shore Patrol Band.

Records (ca. 1976-2004) of the East Carolina Council (North Carolina) of Boy Scouts of America include minutes of the Executive Board, photographs, issues of the Tarheel Scouter newspaper, and files pertaining to awards given to scouts.
A collection of Lt. Richard Norman Tetlie's military service records (1943-1946) and the official records of the USS New York's lengthy service in the U.S. Navy (1914-1948). As an officer during World War II, Lt. Tetlie trained recruits at the Ship-to-Shore Division of the Fort Emory Detachment, Landing Craft School, Coronado, CA, in the fundamentals of the amphibious ship-to-shore maneuver. He then served as the USS New York's public relations officer and official historian (1946). As a result this collection contains documents, photographs, newsletters, and newspaper clippings from the USS New York during her service.
