Bryant L. Tritt was born on December 7, 1903 in Gaston County North Carolina. He kept a collection of family bibles. The collection spans 1778-1970 and includes photocopies of genealogical records from Tritt and his wife's family Bibles listing births, deaths, and marriages, etc. The Strength of the collection is the Tritt-Whitley family of Gaston County, Davie County, and Davidson County, North Carolina genealogical records.

Most of the collection consists of family photographs from the late 1800s and early 1900s, including pictures of unknown members of the included families and some buildings.

Diary written by Edward L. Williams, while serving in the United States Marine Corps, describing his voyage, aboard the USS Alaska, to the European Station under the command of Captain Samuel "Powhatan" and under the direct supervision of Captain W. R. Brown, including their cruise along the Italian coast , frequent port calls, shipboard life, behavior of sailors, and his friendships and acquaintances among the ship's crew.

Advertisements for medicine, likely from between 1870 and 1910. The advertisements include patent medicine trade cards, blotter paper advertisements, broadside advertising sheets, booklets, and calendars. "Patent medicines" were often promoted as "cure-alls" for many parts of the body and their ingredient list (if any) was often inaccurate.

This collection (2007-2010) is related to Patricia "Pat" Dunn's campaign for Mayor of Greenville, North Carolina, in 2007 and her first mayoral term in 2008 to 2010. Found here are her petition as an East Carolina University faculty member to obtain permission from ECU to run for political office, congratulatory letters and emails, photographs, certificates, the installation program, posters, highlights of her first term, and newspaper clippings.

This collection contains Mary Stephenson Hammel's items from her time as a student at East Carolina which are her diploma, publication award for her work on the yearbook, and letter patch for her participation in the Women's Athletic Association. Additionally, there is a 2005 photograph of Mary and a copy of the Alumni Association's booklet made for the class of 1955's Golden Alumni event.

Papers (1897-1901) consisting of correspondence of routine personal matters and family matters, clippings, schedule of recitation and recipes relating to Dr. and Mrs. Richard H. Speight of Edgecombe County, N.C. and their relatives.

This collection contains a photocopy of a letter written by Thomas J. Jarvis of Greenville, North Carolina, on February 1, 1890, to Horace P. Gates in New York, New York, accepting Gates' invitation to meet with Civil War veterans of the Roanoke Island Campaign and describes his own service during the Civil War. Also included are many items related to Eastern North Carolina citizens relative to life during World War II such as ration books, application for appointment as an Aviation Cadet, farm allotments, and photographs of Basic Training Camp #10 in Greensboro. Unrelated items include photographs of Sycamore Hill Baptist Church in Greenville, North Carolina, on February 11, 1969, after it had burned presumably due to arson.
