Papers of Richard Eberhart (1885-1990 [Bulk: 1918-1989], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the Austin, Minnesota-born poet, playwright, literary critic, and educator, including correspondence, scripts, typescripts, holographs, miscellaneous materials, audio and video materials, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Books Collection, proofs of published works, audio recordings, printed materials by Eberhart and other writers, oversized materials and materials in English, French, Greek, Anglo-Saxon, Old French, Russian, Spanish, Thai language.

Papers (undated) of USNA class of 1941 officers, including accounts of service in the USS PHOENIX (CL-46) and the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor along with published articles he wrote on nuclear power, macro operations analysis and modern war.

Interview (1903-1998) with home economics teacher from Macon County, NC, who attended North Carolina College for Women (now University of North Carolina, Greensboro), 1920-1924, pertaining to her family background, education, her teaching career in Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, NC, and her career as a home demonstration agent in Greensboro, NC, 1941-1958, working with North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service and the Tennessee Valley Authority, marriage to J. Collection (1883–1910) consisting of correspondence, eight Civil War pension application ledgers, 2 account books and church record book. The majority of the collection consists of claims for pensions by blacks who served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during the Civil War. The claims request compensation for wounds and injuries received or diseases contracted by the applicants. Claims were submitted either by the veterans themselves or by their survivors. While the majority of claimants appear to have lived in the vicinity of New Bern and James City, North Carolina, many resided throughout the central portion of eastern North Carolina. The ledgers were once the property of Frederick Douglass, a black lawyer, minister, and teacher of New Bern who handled the claims.

Papers (1942-1962) of U.S. Navy enlisted man, who retired as Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate (E-7) pertaining to his service aboard the USS INTREPID, USS BONHOMME RICHARD, USS BOXER, USS TICONDEROGA, USS PINE ISLAND, USS FORRESTAL, and various shore installations, including 3 8 mm film strips (ca. 550 feet) of flight operations aboard the USS BOXER, 1952, clippings, printed materials, manuscript materials, and photographic prints.

Included are a copy of the Daniels-Murphrey Family History compiled and edited by Eleanor Daniels Casey in 1993, a photograph of the USS Nebraska that Benjamin Daniels of Wayne County, North Carolina, sailed to Europe on in WWI, and three photographs of Benjamin Daniels in his WWI US Navy uniform.

Papers (1943) including correspondence, and an abstracted account of this correspondence entitled "Loneliness and Humor, Frustration and Pride."

Collection (1848-2002) of Pace family papers, including documents; photograph and postcard albums; scrapbooks; loose photographs, deeds, legal documents, and newspaper clippings; printed yearbooks, catalogs, textbooks, and newspapers; genealogical charts, postcards, brochures, World War I Army Medical Corps documents, and ephemera relating to physician Dr. Karl Busbee Pace, Sr. and his sons, Dr. Karl B. Pace, Jr., Charles Taylor Pace, and J. T. W."Tommy" Pace and their families in Robeson, Chatham and Pitt counties, NC.

Collection holds medical notebooks from various sources. Two notebooks found in the Laupus Library History Collection with no presently known provenance. One notebook is a dietetics notebook from E. Alexander at General Hospital, Patterson, New Jersey. The other notebook is Dr. Edward Beach Crowell's medical recipe book. An additional notebook was added to the collection in 2018. This notebook, purchased from Palinurus, was the business record for a Connecticut physician in the 1840s. Two more notebooks were added in 2022. They document medical products.

Papers of ECU alumnus Edward Brodie consisting of correspondence, articles and research for the East Carolinian/Fountainhead, research notes for the history of ECU, and Brodie's personal items and ephemera.

The collection includes publications created by the ECU School of Medicine and the University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Papers of Randall Jarrell (1913–1992 [Bulk: 1939-1966], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Nashville, Tennessee-born American poet, literary critic, children's author, essayist, novelist, and educator; including his childhood and education in Nashville, his education at Vanderbilt University, where he studied under Robert Penn Warren, Allen Tate, and John Crowe Ransom; his career of teaching English Literature at Kenyon College, University of Texas at Austin, Sarah Lawrence College, and the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina; his service, during World War II, in the U. S. Army Air Corps; his numerous awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, in 1947-1948, a grant from the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1951, the National Book Award in 1961, and as Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1956-1958; including correspondence, literary essays, lists and notes, original art, photographic prints and negatives, manuscript and printed poems, manuscript volumes, oversized materials, audio materials, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

This collection consists of photographs, slides, and negatives of images used in Greenville—Pitt County Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (North Carolina) publications in the 1970s through 1990s. Also included are some audiotapes.
