This collection contains twenty-four pages of genealogical notes related to Beaufort County, N.C., families including Bonner, Snoad, Smallwood, and Latham written by Lucretia Hughes of Washington, N.C.; and a scrapbook of "About Town" columns (1946-1947) written by Penelope Bogart (Rodman) as a teenager for the Washington Daily News published in Washington, N.C. Also included are two typescripts of interviews done in 1938 with a mill worker at Glen Raven Cotton Mill in Burlington, N.C., and with a woman who ran a lodging house in Raleigh, N.C.; and an undated typescript titled "Description of Mill Village" about life on Factory Hill where many of the Asheville Cotton Mill workers lived. The interview with the woman in Raleigh also includes her experiences during the Civil War in Wake County, N.C. In addition, there is an errata of corrections to Van Camp's Images of America: Washington, North Carolina and a Bible containing family history information.

Collection (1942 – 2019, undated) of documents, programs, notes, correspondence, interviews, and photographic prints documenting the history and membership of the U. S. Navy B-1 Band, the first All-African American band to serve in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Material includes historical and biographical sketches of the band and ites members, and photographs of the band, rosters, the music and lyrics, interviews, and documentation of race relations in North Carolina, the United States, and the United States military during the 20th century.

Collection (1855-1958) of manuscript and printed materials compiled by Antoinette S. Jenkins, including a history of St. Peter's Church, Salem, Massachusetts, 1958; notebook containing records of the botanical research conducted by Hugh M. Neisler of Taylor, Georgia, 1866-1881; photocopy typescript account of the 45th Georgia Infantry Regiment (C.S.A.) during Civil War battles at Richmond, Cedar Run, 2nd Manassas, Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, and others, by Joseph A. Walker, 1864; General Store sales records of Nicholas Bascom Jenkins from Nashville, Nash County, North Carolina, 1905-1935; genealogical materials relating to the Letcher, Mitchell, Neisler [Neischler], Jenkins, and Howard families of Nash county, North Carolina; Taylor, Georgia; and Salem, Massachusetts), 1897; also letters and obituary and newspaper articles, including an excerpt from Western Maryland College yearbook relating to on George Stockton Wills, of Westminster, Maryland, 1930-1956; in English, Greek and Latin language.

Papers (1939-1943) include correspondence from a U.S. naval officer describing life on the minesweeper USS YMS-62 (1942-1943) during World War II while stationed in New Orleans and Burwood in Louisiana, at sea, and in Algeria. Lieutenant Commander Brown also records his impressions of Algeria in these letters.

This collection contains personal belongings of Dr. Joseph E. Wilson that include reprints from "Southern Medicine & Surgery," Volume 109, No. 4, April 1947, "The Country Doctor Museum" pamphlet (1971), "The Loves of the Angels" by Thomas Moore (1844), reprint of "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam," photographs and tin-type photographs, and a Southern Medical Association membership card (1916).

Papers (1783-1946) of Halifax County, NC physician, including correspondence, plantation, relationship to patients, medication, charge, estate payments and general account ledger personal ledger (1849-1855), letter press books (1883-1912), writing ledger (1830, 1873-1876), receipt book, farm ledgers (1877-1946), and miscellaneous materials.
