Letters, photographs, ephemera, maps, and printed materials (1966-1968, 1986) of U.S. Navy Hospitalman 3rd Class (HM3) in the Vietnam War relating to his training at the Great Lakes Naval Station, Great Lakes, IL; his service in Company D., 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps, in Da Nang and Phu Bai, Vietnam; and his Rest and Recreation leaves in Bangkok, Thailand, Georgetown, and Penang, Malaysia.

Papers of Aaron Copland (1943-2005 [Bulk: 1971-1997]) documenting the life and musical career of the iconic Brooklyn, New York-born American composer, consisting of correspondence between Stuart Wright and Copland and others relating to Copland, 1977-1997; also loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection relating to Aaron Copland; photographic prints; original art; brochures, pamphlets and periodicals relating to Aaron Copland; in English, French & Spanish language.

This collection (1850-1969; bulk 1860-1889) of papers belonging to Wilmington, New Hanover County, NC, attorneys, who were father and son and both named Marsden Bellamy, includes wills, deeds, estate and mortgage records, legal briefs, correspondence, insurance policies, account books, loan records, receipts of payment, agreements and other legal records.

Letter (May 12, 1909) written by G. P. Stevens, a missionary representing the Mecklenburg, North Carolina, Presbytery, in Suchien, China, describing his experiences in Suchien.

The Charles S. Sterrett Collection contains one print of the USS Wisconsin (BB-64) from 1945.

Collection (1942-1945, 2006) of documents, maps, printed materials, etc., relating to his service as a Quartermaster 3d Class aboard the USS Ann Arundel (AP-76) during World War II, including autobiographical accounts of four voyages, and descriptions of its actions during the Normandy invasion of 6 June 1944.

Collection contains a variety of items relating to Eastern North Carolina especially including a photograph of East Carolina Teacher's College scene (ca. 1940's); a theater Program (ca. 1933/34) for a play presented by The Episcopal Junior Guild, Austin Building, East Carolina Teacher's College; and a Measles in Quarantine Keep Your Babies Away From Measles Broadside (4/7/1934) posted on the home of Ella Viola McGowan when she had the measles. Also included are photographs (some unidentified) of World War II era of which several pertain to military bases such as the 657th Engineer Topographic Battalion (40th Infantry Division, U.S. Army), and one is of Cecil May in U.S. Marine corporal uniform; a photocopy of a letter (1913) containing reminiscences of Confederate veteran John W. Vernelson (of N.C. State Troops) war service and describing the Veterans Reunion at Gettysburg, PA; receipts (1909-1910) for sales by Crown Bottling Works in New Bern, NC; Pitt County, NC, land grants and deeds (1782-1837) related to the Boyd, Edwards, and Nobles families; Bible Records and birth and death records for the Eldridge, Wilder/Hatsell, Pittman, Moore, Sewell, and Davis families; and the book (2011) "One of the Lucky Ones," Edgar Cannon's Contributions in World War II. Other materials (1856-2001) consist of manuscripts, research clippings, notes, photocopies, photographic prints, programs, notebooks, and newspapers, relating to the history and genealogy of Eastern North Carolina, especially Robersonville and Williamston in Martin County, NC. Also included are a 1941 color silent 16mm film about Greenville and slides (ca. 1970) documenting tobacco and old houses in Pitt County, NC.

Vaughan Family Papers (1872-1900, 1969, undated) includes photograph albums containing images of family members from Hertford County, North Carolina. Also included is Uriah Vaughan correspondence (1876-1887) and a photocopy of the 1969 appraisal of Uriah Vaughan Heirs Property in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.

This collection contains material (1735-2004) detailing the history of the A.C. Monk Tobacco Company and the Monk Family of Farmville, Pitt County, North Carolina, including financial records, correspondence, tax documents, audit reports, wills, estate records, stock certificates, deeds, receipts, ledger, press releases, portfolios, and blueprints, land records, clippings, publications and broadsides, and family histories and Farmville histories. Also included are photographs (daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tintypes, cartes de visite, negatives, 35 mm prints, large framed images), and charcoal portraits, of Monk, Quinerly, Turnage, and May family members of Farmville, North Carolina.

Congressional files (1966-1992), of businessman and Democratic mayor of Farmville, NC, 1949-1953; state representative, 1955-1959; state senator, 1965; and U. S. Congressman from the 1st District of NC, 1966-1989, including correspondence, reports, legislative bills, memorandums, clippings, etc. 378 boxes. 126.0 cubic feet.

Papers (1820-[1917-1975]-1980) consisting of correspondence, newspapers, clippings, literary manuscripts, scrapbooks, pamphlets, movie based correspondence, and genealogical records related to the literary career of newspaper columnist Dorothy Repiton Knox of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Included is a logbook/scrapbook kept by Henry A. Phelon (1831-1902) who served as an acting Master in the Union Navy (1862-1865) during the Civil War. Orders, holograph letters, dispatches, handwritten copies of documents, and newspaper clippings glued into this scrapbook chronicle his wartime service under Rear Admiral Samuel P. Lee with the Blockading Squadron off the coasts of Virginia and North Carolina on the U.S. Steamers Shawsheen, Monticello, and Daylight, and U.S. Ironclad Steamers Canonicus and Atlanta. Later clippings (through 1900) and documents pertain to his post-war years, most of which was spent in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
