Letters, photographs, ephemera, maps, and printed materials (1966-1968, 1986) of U.S. Navy Hospitalman 3rd Class (HM3) in the Vietnam War relating to his training at the Great Lakes Naval Station, Great Lakes, IL; his service in Company D., 1st Medical Battalion, 1st Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps, in Da Nang and Phu Bai, Vietnam; and his Rest and Recreation leaves in Bangkok, Thailand, Georgetown, and Penang, Malaysia.

In this oral history, Rebecca Croom Fordham (1899-1983) describes attending East Carolina Teachers Training School (East Carolina University) in Greenville, North Carolina, especially during the 1918 flu epidemic; teaching in Lenoir County, N.C.; and her life in the 1920s during the land boom and subsequent bust in Florida.

The collection consists of a photograph of Edmund Burke Haywood; a journal on medical practices by Hubert Benbury Haywood Sr.; and a scrap of a newspaper from H.B. Haywood Sr.'s journal.

Collection contains receipts from Nowell's Drug Store in Wendell, North Carolina. The receipts are from ordering medicinal and general supplies between 1915 and 1937.

Howard Chapin Papers (1947-2000) primarily pertaining to his nine terms in the North Carolina General Assembly from Washington, NC, 1974-1992, including personal correspondence, clippings, materials relating to his service on committees, and artifacts he received relating to the bicentennials of Washington, NC and the United States, 1975-76.

The majority of this collection pertains to James V. Lobell of Maryland who was a leader in the footwear industry from 1913 to 1961; he founded Cavalier Shoe Polish Company which was purchased by KIWI in 1961. Included are business and personal correspondence, photographs, reports, shoe catalogs, and bound issues of Shoes and Leather Reporter (1910s-1920s). Papers also reflect his involvement with the Boy Scouts, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (especially during WWII), and Business Education among other topics. The donor wrote his master's thesis on Lobell's life and materials related to his research are included, too. Unrelated to Mr. Lobell are clippings (1969-1978) and posters concerning Rose High School (Greenville, North Carolina) football and baseball teams; a broadside "Chronology of Pitt County History" created by Jessamine Shumate (1953); and North Carolina public school education-related documents (1906-1933).
