This collection contains over 100 letters (1885, 1892-1897) written to Sallie Dromgoole Cotten (1876-1972), daughter of Sallie Swepson Southall Cotten and Robert Randolph Cotten, either while she was at home at Cottendale in Falkland, Pitt County, North Carolina, or at Notre Dame of Maryland Preparatory School and Collegiate Institute in Baltimore. The letters are written mainly by Sallie's female friends, but also some male friends in the 1890s (1892-1897) The correspondents are family, associates, and friends, especially schoolmates. Topics are mainly related to interests of college women and men. Also included are ephemera such as dance cards and dance invitations especially to "German" dances which were large popular events among wealthy white families in Eastern North Carolina tobacco towns in the 1890s.

Leather bound volume measuring 17 cm x 13 cm with folding cover containing illuminated text of the Qur'an on at least 289 leaves. Possibly nineteenth century. Original embossed cover with sized paper signatures.

Collection (2005) of research material regarding the Battle of Wyse Forks, North Carolina, compiled by the donor for Through the Eyes of Soldiers: The Battle of Wyse Forks, Kinston, North Carolina, March 7-10, 1865, by Tom J. Edwards and William Rowland, edited by Ashleigh D. Brothers, published by the Lenoir County Historical Association, Kinston, N.C., in 2006, including typescripts of unit histories, excerpts from official records and published works, and manuscript maps of the battle.

Ramey who served in World War II, had a career as a tobacconist, and was active in local government and community activities in Greenville, North Carolina. Papers include correspondence (1938, 1960s, 1990s, 2013), deeds (1950s), photographs, certificates, an oral history on CD done in 2015, clippings, paper items related to World War II, and 2 panoramic photographs of Scottish Rite members in New Bern (1958, 1965).

This collection contains Mary Stephenson Hammel's items from her time as a student at East Carolina which are her diploma, publication award for her work on the yearbook, and letter patch for her participation in the Women's Athletic Association. Additionally, there is a 2005 photograph of Mary and a copy of the Alumni Association's booklet made for the class of 1955's Golden Alumni event.
