On January 14, 2009, Dale Sauter (Grant Project Director) and Chris Oakley (Grant Historian) interviewed David J. Whichard II and Stuart Savage. Both Whichard and Savage have been at the Daily Reflector for most of their lives. Whichard's grandfather and his grandfather's brother founded the newspaper in the late 1800s. Savage retired in March 2009 with fifty years at the newspaper. They have both been involved in the newspaper in many capacities, including Whichard as one time publisher, and Savage as photographer. What makes this interview so special are the reflections of both Whichard and Savage about their experiences at the newspaper and in the Greenville area. Obviously, many changes have occurred since the start of the careers and the present day. These changes include both the physical processes, as well as the whole nature of the newspaper business. During this time there have also been dramatic and sweeping social transformations in Greenville that also mirror changes that occurred on a state and national level. Interview with Mrs. Robert B. (Katie) Morgan, covering the years 1925 to 2018, relating to her early life and family background, her experiences as an ECTC-ECU student and alumna, and as a school teacher, including her memories of life as the wife of North Carolina attorney, government official, state senator, attorney general and US Senator Robert B. Morgan, and her political, charitable, and social activities in Lillington, Greenville, and Raleigh, North Carolina, and in Washington, DC.

Papers (1975-2008, undated) of an organist and music professor at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, consisting of correspondence, doctoral thesis, seminar presentations, printed materials, handwritten research journal articles, clippings, and photographs and slides with images of medieval English Cathedrals, Abbeys, and Castles and depictions of musical instruments in them. The slides were taken during her six-month research sabbatical in Oxford, England, in 1982.

In this oral history Phillip Dixon, Sr. talks about his childhood, time as a student and Student Government Association Vice President at East Carolina University, service on the the UNC Board of Governors and ECU Board of Trustees, legal career, and family life.

This collection contains twenty-four pages of genealogical notes related to Beaufort County, N.C., families including Bonner, Snoad, Smallwood, and Latham written by Lucretia Hughes of Washington, N.C.; and a scrapbook of "About Town" columns (1946-1947) written by Penelope Bogart (Rodman) as a teenager for the Washington Daily News published in Washington, N.C. Also included are two typescripts of interviews done in 1938 with a mill worker at Glen Raven Cotton Mill in Burlington, N.C., and with a woman who ran a lodging house in Raleigh, N.C.; and an undated typescript titled "Description of Mill Village" about life on Factory Hill where many of the Asheville Cotton Mill workers lived. The interview with the woman in Raleigh also includes her experiences during the Civil War in Wake County, N.C. In addition, there is an errata of corrections to Van Camp's Images of America: Washington, North Carolina and a Bible containing family history information.

Papers of A. R. Ammons (1954-1993, undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Whiteville, North Carolina-born American poet and creative writing educator at Cornell University; consisting of correspondence, proofs of published material, printed materials and oversized materials; also including loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection relating to Stuart Wright's research on A. R. Ammons.

The Maury York Papers are comprised of his administrive files, committee records, and records about grant projects, library director searches, and library projects including the First in the Family Cenntennial Oral History Project, the history fiction project, and the Eastern North Carolina Literary Homecoming.

Original material collected by Horace H. Mewborn, Jr. including printed maps, letters, diaries, clippings, cartes de visite, tintypes, an ambrotype, memoir, ledgers, reports, and drawings related to the Civil War especially pertaining to Col. John S. Mosby and his 43rd Virginia Cavalry Battalion, Col. Elijah V. White and his 35th Virginia Cavalry Battalion, North Carolina Cavalry Units, and the battles fought in the New Bern, NC, vicinity. Also included is his voluminous research related to the above listed units and the Army of Northern Virginia and the Army of the South.

Papers (1942-2002), entitled "John Paul Jones and the American Navy 1775," written while a student at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering, Raleigh, NC, including original handwritten manuscript, 1942 (28 p.), draft typescript, 1942 (14 p.), and spiral bound version self-published, 2002 (28 p.).
