Letter (June 22–23, 1840) from John and M. J. Atkins of Averasboro, North Carolina, to their cousin Caroline E. Turner in Montgomery, Alabama. The writers discuss family news, domestic activities such as dressmaking and preserving, local economic "hard times," and mention a forthcoming Whig political meeting in Averasboro.

This collection contains papers and ephemera (1875-1985) pertaining to the Barnes Family of Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and the surrounding area. Included are correspondence, land records, photographs, genealogy notes, wills, obituaries, programs, autograph book (1884), report cards from Wesleyan Female College and UNC Chapel Hill, poetry, and accounts.

A collection (ca. 1885-1918, undated) of 55 cartes de visite and cabinet cards mounted on cardboard, a scrapbook containing 11 snapshots, a manuscript, and printed materials belonging to John Miller Faison, a North Carolina physician, Democratic Party leader, and Congressman from the N.C. Third District between 1911 and 1915.

Papers (1918, 1932, 1942-1969) of Episcopalian missionary from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, to the Philippines including correspondence, financial records, affidavits, typescripts, newspapers, and miscellany. A lot of the documentation pertains to her time in the Los Banos Internment Camp during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II.

The Vertical File Collection contains individual items that don't fit into existing collections. There is no overall theme or subject connecting them. Items included vary from photographs, broadsides, pamphlets, advertising materials, programs, negatives, and postcards to land grants, genealogy notes, and a music transcription book. Inclusive dates are 1792-2016.

This collection contains administrative records from the Division of Research, Economic Development and Engagement, including born-digital records of Associate Vice Chancellor Michael Van Scott, Research and Creative Achievement Week program, the Small Business and Technology Development Center Business Start-up Guide, and a large number of unprocessed materials.

Papers (1939-1943) include correspondence from a U.S. naval officer describing life on the minesweeper USS YMS-62 (1942-1943) during World War II while stationed in New Orleans and Burwood in Louisiana, at sea, and in Algeria. Lieutenant Commander Brown also records his impressions of Algeria in these letters.

Muster roll for a detachment of the 29th Regiment U. S. Colored Troops Detachment under the command of Capt. Wilson Camp, dated June 30 – August 31, 1865. The roll documents the names, ranks, enlistment data, and service records of the 17-man detachment consisting of soldiers from Illinois, Indiana, and Maryland.

The Utaka Hashimoto Papers (1942-1946, undated), consists of a scrapbook, entitled Utaka's Over Sea Souvenir, compiled by Hashimoto's wife, Mitsuyo "Mitzie" Hashimoto, to document her husband's World War II military intelligence service as a Technician 5th class, in the 163rd and 171st Language Detachments, 32nd Infantry Division, I Corps, United States Army, which was assigned to the Southwest Pacific and Occupation of Japan. The scrapbook focuses on his overseas service, from October 1945 through May 1946, aboard the troopships SS JAMES H. KINKAID (WSAT AP USAT-480) and SS MARSHALL VICTORY (VC2-S-AP2); his brief deployment in Manila, the Philippines during October - November 1945; and in various locations in Japan from November 1945 to May 1946. Included are correspondence, newsletter clippings, photographic prints, black and white and color postcards, printed forms, U.S. Military and Occupation and Japanese currencies, and ephemera from Japan. Additional items document Utaka Hashimoto's military service and also include photocopies of records of his wife's voluntary evacuation (before their marriage) due to the resettlement of Japanese Americans during WWII and that of her second husband who was in a relocation camp.

Papers of Walker Percy (1954-1997 [1975-1987]) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Birmingham, Alabama-born American novelist of the New South, consisting of three copies of a proof entitled Walker Percy: A Bibliography: 1930-1984, compiled by Stuart Wright (1985); also loose manuscript items transferred from works by Walker Percy in the Stuart Wright Book Collection, including from: Lancelot: A Novel (1977-1982), Lost in the Cosmos (1978-1997), The Message in the Bottle (1975-1983), The Movie-Goer: A Novel (1961, 1982), The Thanatos Syndrome (1987-1997), The Correspondence of Shelby Foote Walker Percy (1979-1987), The Message of Auschwitz (1987), and Walker Percy: A Bibliography, by Stuart Wright (1986) ; also including a pamphlet by Walker Percy, entitled Symbol and Need (1954).

Journal of a Cruize in the USS Independence, Commodore William Bainbridge's Flag Ship, Capt. William M. Crane, Commander, from Boston, July 2nd, 1815 (3 July–15 November 1815), compiled by an anonymous crew member, which describes the first overseas mission of the first ship of the line commissioned by the United States Navy, to deal with the piratical acts of the Barbary Powers against American merchant commerce in the Mediterranean Sea, bound in original calf leather over marbled boards, entries clean and legible; also a letter from William M. Crane, Commanding Officer, USS Delaware, Port Mahon (20 September 1829) to Lt. William N, McKean, U.S. sloop Warren, ordering him to report to Lt. Thomas M. Newell, commander of the U.S. schooner Porpoise.

Collection (1911-1956, bulk 1918-1919) consists of material related to Roy S. Fisk who served as an Army cook with Co. C, 131st Engineers, AEF, stationed in Le Mans, France, during the latter half of World War I. Included are correspondence, papers related to Fisk's military career, war-related publications, French guide books and souvenir photo albums from places he visited in France, a postcard book from the USS Kaiserin Auguste Victoria, and Vol. 1, No. 19, April 10, 1919, issue of The Bulletin which discusses issues in France and the military career of Brigadier General George S. Simonds. Also included are some papers and ephemera related to his post-military life.
