Transcript of the partial autobiography of Curtis Dula Hawkins (1914-1984) created from audiocassette recordings. Hawkins details his early life, the history of McDowell County, North Carolina, the history of the Hawkins and Dula families.

Letters (20 November 1862 – 20 January 1863) from two brothers -- Alfred Howard Kinsley of Co. H, of the 45th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Militia) and Thomas Kinsley, serving in Co. A, -- from Camp Amory on the Trent River, North Carolina, to Edward Wilkinson Kinsley, a Boston merchant, Abolitionist, Government agent and military recruiter, who was probably their relative, and primarily concerning their service in Brig. Gen. John G. Foster's Expedition to Goldsboro, NC, including the First Battle of Kinston and the Battle of Whitehall, NC, 13 – 14, 16 December 1862. Autograph letters signed.

Includes Dr. Hunt's military records.

Letters and ephemera (1926-1929) related to the life of Agnes Wadlington [Barrett], who was born in Trigg County, Kentucky in 1902, before she took a job at East Carolina Teachers College (now East Carolina University) as secretary to the president of the college. Also found with these papers are many photographs of members of the Putnam family of Murray, Kentucky. The only connection between Mrs. Barrett and the Putnam family appears to be that both she and Louise Vey Putnam Carter's husband Herbert Leland Carter both worked at East Carolina University. An 1982 engagement calendar kept by Mrs. Barrett documents her life during retirement in Greenville, North Carolina.

Papers (1885-1930, undated) including correspondence, financial papers, clippings, photographs, pamphlets, newspapers, a letterpress book, etc., relating to Fechtig's role as purchasing agent for the Washington, Ohio and Western Railroad Company and other companies.

The U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation Collection: Thomas Onachila Jr. Papers consists of two photographs documenting the USS Leyte (CV-32), an Essex-class aircraft carrier active during the early Cold War and Korean War period. The images, dating circa 1950–1952, include a view of the vessel and a group portrait of its crew.

Collection (1733-1943) consisting primarily of Stallings family papers, deeds, land surveys, wills, a Bible record, newspapers, clippings and miscellaneous.

Congressional files (1966-1992), of businessman and Democratic mayor of Farmville, NC, 1949-1953; state representative, 1955-1959; state senator, 1965; and U. S. Congressman from the 1st District of NC, 1966-1989, including correspondence, reports, legislative bills, memorandums, clippings, etc. 378 boxes. 126.0 cubic feet.

This collection contains sixty-five letters (1846-1847) the majority of which were written by wholesale merchant Samuel Kissam of Plymouth, North Carolina, to his brother George Kissam, also a merchant, of New York City, New York, discussing mostly business matters. Also included are a couple of letters written by a ship's master at New Orleans, Louisiana, to Samuel Kissam concerning a maritime mishap.
