Papers of Randall Jarrell (1913–1992 [Bulk: 1939-1966], undated) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Nashville, Tennessee-born American poet, literary critic, children's author, essayist, novelist, and educator; including his childhood and education in Nashville, his education at Vanderbilt University, where he studied under Robert Penn Warren, Allen Tate, and John Crowe Ransom; his career of teaching English Literature at Kenyon College, University of Texas at Austin, Sarah Lawrence College, and the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina; his service, during World War II, in the U. S. Army Air Corps; his numerous awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, in 1947-1948, a grant from the National Institute of Arts and Letters in 1951, the National Book Award in 1961, and as Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1956-1958; including correspondence, literary essays, lists and notes, original art, photographic prints and negatives, manuscript and printed poems, manuscript volumes, oversized materials, audio materials, and loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection.

Steven N. Anastasion (U.S.N.A. 1942 graduate) served aboard the USS Champlin (DD601) from 1942 to 1945 and commanded the Destroyer Escort USS Melvin R. Nawman (DE 416) from 1952 to 1954 in Norway, Denmark and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the Destroyer USS Hawkins (DDR873) from 1958 to 1960 and the Guided Missile Cruiser USS Leahy (DLG-16) from 1964 to 1967 in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Papers refer to his service aboard these ships and include printed materials, newsletters, and navigational summaries. Also included are 2009 issues of The Seaweed, published by the USS Champlin Reunion Group and a transcription of an interview with Captain Anastasion done by Robert C. Bormann of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.

Papers (1975-2008, undated) of an organist and music professor at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia, consisting of correspondence, doctoral thesis, seminar presentations, printed materials, handwritten research journal articles, clippings, and photographs and slides with images of medieval English Cathedrals, Abbeys, and Castles and depictions of musical instruments in them. The slides were taken during her six-month research sabbatical in Oxford, England, in 1982.

Collection (1844-1972) of material related to Craven Co., N.C., or to maritime topics. Cemetery records for Craven Co., N.C., list 800 tombstones and include some hand-drawn maps and local historical notes. Records of the New Bern Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, New Bern, N.C., include a minute book (1954-1966), membership roll calls, correspondence, clippings, notes, reports, resolutions, and other materials. Postcards, stereographs, and sheet music concern naval and maritime themes and include World War I patriotic sheet music. Scrapbook (1919-1922) contains clippings on the construction of concrete ships at the Newport Shipbuilding Corporation of New Bern, N.C., and on the New Bern Bears baseball team. Other postcards and printed materials concern the North Carolina Outer Banks ferries; Bethlehem Steel Corporation; and the U.S. Navy, including the USS Maine, early submarines USS Porpoise and USS Shark, the USS San Francisco, and a compilation of articles written during WWI for the onboard newspaper of the USS George Washington entitled The Hatchet of the United States Ship George Washington by Captain Edwin T. Pollock and Lieutenant Paul F. Bloomhardt.

Papers of Aaron Copland (1943-2005 [Bulk: 1971-1997]) documenting the life and musical career of the iconic Brooklyn, New York-born American composer, consisting of correspondence between Stuart Wright and Copland and others relating to Copland, 1977-1997; also loose manuscript items transferred from the Stuart Wright Book Collection relating to Aaron Copland; photographic prints; original art; brochures, pamphlets and periodicals relating to Aaron Copland; in English, French & Spanish language.

Records (1950-2007) of Greenville Industries, including by-laws, certificate of incorporation, board minutes, correspondence, contracts, deeds, and blueprints, and of longtime board member and president Charles O'Hagan Horne, Jr. (1970-2000), including correspondence, financial records, blueprints, maps, and reports. Greenville Industries was a for-profit corporation founded to sell land at reduced rates to industries to encourage them to set up businesses in Pitt County, North Carolina.

This collection (1846-1903) contains correspondence between Ransom Respess of Ransomville, North Carolina, and other members of his family including his son, Reverend George Respess of Ransomville, N.C. Topics include family members, agriculture, an 1860 uprising of enslaved persons in Alabama, and the Civil War Battle of Manassas (1862). Among other items included is an 1846-1849 arithmetic cipher book.

Collection (1945-circa 1980s, undated) of clippings, photographs, Christmas cards, World War II ration books, relating to the Parker family, "Pitch a Boogie Woogie" a film with an all-black cast, the Corner Stone Baptist Church, and Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church of Greenville, North Carolina.

Papers of James Still (1937) documenting the life and literary career of the noted Double Branch, Alabama-born American poet, novelist, short story writer, and school librarian, who focused on Southern themes; consisting of a bound, paperback, proof of his book of poems entitled Hounds on the Mountain (1937); autographed James Still on the front cover.

Records (1948-1984) of the Redevelopment Commission of the City of Greenville, North Carolina, primarily for the Shore Drive Urban Renewal area, including appraisals, boundary description, demolition contracts, financial records, relocation files, acquisition records, reports property photographs, etc.

Papers (1861 - 2025, undated) documenting the archaeological excavations of the Confederate defensive fortifications, river obstructions and fish trap on the River Neuse below Kinston, NC, and the Confederate ironclad ram CSS Neuse, relating to Capt. Joseph H.
